For quite some time we’ve known that Apple some what keeps tabs on the jailbreak community. Our speculation has now been solidified by an actual statement about the Jailbreak Dream Team that recently released the iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
On it’s iOS 5.1 security page Apple refers to the “2012 iOS Jailbreak Dream Team” and credits it for the Kernel exploit used to jailbreak it’s latest iOS devices.
Available for: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation) and later, iPad, iPad 2
Impact: A malicious program could bypass sandbox restrictions
Description: A logic issue existed in the handling of debug system calls. This may allow a malicious program to gain code execution in other programs with the same user privileges.

In another interesting note Pod2G the main hacker who found the exploits to jailbreak A5 iOS devices is also credited for two specific hacks which allow arbitrary code execution thus our current jailbreak was born.
