GreenPoison RC5 Released: Download Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1

Greenpois0n RC5 has just been released and it jailbreaks all iOS devices on firmware 4.2.1 and of course its an untethered jailbreak. Shout out to the Chronic Dev Team for all their hard work for actually doing this work on their own without the help of the iPhone Dev Team.At the moment GreenPois0n does not hactivate your idevice, meaning you have to have your iphone past the connect to itunes screen before you can jailbreak.

Fully detailed jailbreak tutorials are coming soon here on theiphonespot. Unfortunately the first release is for Mac OSX only. You can download the updated Greenpois0n RC5 from

If it does not proceed past the four missing component screen, redo the jailbreak with Greenpois0n. It does jailbreak the iphone4……eventually….. Then you'll see '' but Cydia does not load ! Maybe the website is being overwhelmed by jailbreakers! So, at this point use Redsn0w instead! Redo the jailbreak to install Cydia over the jailbroken phone having already used Greenpois0n. The untethered component still exists after the reboot. At this point I'm not sure if things like Skype etc work or not. However, I now have an untethered iPhone4 JB via Greenpoins0n and Cydia installed by Redsn0w. Nice!

Here is the fix for "Greenpoisi0n Initialized" Freeze:

Download the RC5_2 Version 2 here

Run that new Greenpoisi0n with root access like this:

    1: Open terminal, type sudo(space)
2: Then go to a finder window and goto the location you downloaded Greenpoisi0n RC5_2, open as "Show package contents" then goto MacOS, and drag "greenpoisi0n" into terminal.
3: make sure theres not an extra space after the file is placed into terminal, if there is; a simple backspace will take care of it.
    4: Hit enter.

You are now running Greenpoisi0n in root.

Follow the original JB directions to include: DFU mode, and HOLD home until you see code scroll…scroll meaning past the initial 4 that everyone see's.

Let me know if this helped and if you have any questions.
