iPhone 5 To Feature 8MP Camera, Qualcomm Chip?

FBR Capital Markets predicts the iPhone 5 will begin production in Q3 featuring an 8MP camera and a Qualcomm CDMA-GSM chip, according to PCWorld.

In a research note, FBR says they expect about about 20 million iPhones will be produced in the third quarter with the iPhone 5 accounting for about 8 million of those.

OmniVision is predicted to be the supplier of an 8 megapixel CMOS sensor with Sony being a possible backup supplier.

Apple is said to be using integrated CDMA-GSM communication chips from Qualcomm for the upcoming device.

“Our contacts have confirmed to us that Qualcomm is replacing Intel as the baseband supplier, selling an integrated CDMA/WCDMA baseband,” FBR wrote.

Yesterday the next generation iPhone’s release date was pegged at November 21st by an unconfirmed source.
