Jailbreak Tweak: PhoneItiPad Now Available In Cydia Store

You may recall this tweak being demoed a couple of weeks ago only to not hear anything about it for quite some time.

Well today we’re happy to announce iPhoneIslam has released PhoneIt-Pad which will turn your ipad 3g into a fully working iphone. Sooo who’s going to be the first to hold up their huge phone up to their face in public? Don’t  forget to take a picture and send it in for us to see.

PhoneItiPad is a little steep on the price selling for $19.99 but if you really do plan on using your ipad as a jumbo sized iphone then it should be a nice investment.

Here is how to set it up thanks to Redmondpie:

Here’s how to set it up:

Step 1: Locate your ICCID, which you should be able to find under System > General > About. This is your unique mobile identifier, which you’ll later need to set up PhoneItiPad.

Step 2: Purchase PhoneItiPad by clicking on this link (you can do this from computer). Insert your ICCID when requested.

Step 3: Fire up Cydia and add the following repository: http://apps.iphoneislam.com. Then locate the “PhoneItiPad” and install it.

Step 4: From here, the tweak should work directly, and you should be able to make calls and send SMS messages, as showcased on the original video released by iPhoneIslam.

You should think twice before giving out your unique ICCID to a third-party, but that seems to be a requirement to be able to make calls on the iPad. If the video above is to be believed, this hack works very effectively and is well worth the $19.99.

Hi, Just want to keep you update on the software, after updated & jailbreak to iOS 4.3.3 then installed the phoneitipad app from Cydia. Activate the license, it works straight away. I was able to make & receive calls, sending & receiving SMS. Definitely worth the money. It take the iPad another step forward.

Doesn’t work for me. It acts as if it’s sending text (progress bar fills, then you hear the delivered sound), but it never arrives at its destination. The telephone part of the app works even less. No way to dial a number. Contacted a developer and he/she said, “ Also the normal thinking should lead you to that phones needs SIM card that can make phone call.“ I emailed them back asking if I need to take my iPhone SIM card, or maybe buy a SIM card to make it work on the iPad. No response yet.
Nice app and all. A great accomplishment, but doesn’t work for me. Maybe cause I’m slow and am missing something? ;-) Could be… Meanwhile, pretty much wasted $20. Not the end of the world. Oh, well.

Hi, I used my data sim and that can receive phone calls and SMS. Then I’ve put in my iPhone 4 sim and tried. I was able to make & receive calls including FaceTime. Sending receiving SMS. Are you running on iOS 4.3.3?

      • Kenneth T. Bruseth

Yes, I’m running iOS 4.3.3 on my iPad. When you say your ‘date sim,’ are you talking about the SIM card that came with your iPad, the original one? You’re able to make and receive calls and SMS messages with the SIM that came with the iPad?
I’m wondering if I have a conflict of sorts with some of my mobile substrate addons. I tried disabling them with SBSettings, but still had no luck getting PhoneItPad to work. Anybody else get it to work? Anybody else have problems?

        • Michael

Sorry, I meant the data sim that came with the ipad. That sim card allow me to receive calls & SMS only. But replace another sim card which I was using on my iPhone then I was able to make calls & send SMS. Why not try restore the ipad and jailbreak it again and reinstall the app again to see if it work.

          • Kenneth T. Bruseth

Hey Michael, no need to be sorry – you made it clear that the SIM card that came with the iPad could only •receive• calls and SMS’s, it was me that wrote ‘send and receive.’
Yeah, if I get the time I might restore and re-jailbreak the iPad. I think that an app I have on the iPad called, ‘Springtomize’ might be causing my problems, but I’m not sure yet. If I do a restore and jailbreak again, without any addons, I wouldn’t be surprised that it would work just fine. So… Where does one acquire a SIM card to use with the iPad? Not a data only one like the one that shipped with the iPad. I wonder if there’s any way I could talk AT&T into supplying me with a replacement/clone of the one presently in my iPhone? Pretty interesting stuff. Thanks for your replies, and thanks for your help.

I’ve forgot to tell you guys that the multi-guesture feature option disappear from setting after installing the phoneitipad app. What you have to do is jailbreak it again and select the multi guesture and deselect install Cydia as it’s already on the iPad. After that you will see the multi guesture option back in setting > general. Enjoy it
