Jailbreakers: Update To iOS 5.0.1 As Soon As Possible

With the newly released jailbreak for the A5 devices (iPad 2, iPhone 4S) and the Corona untethered exploit out in the wild, the world is happily enjoying their fully updated jailbroken iOS devices.

What a lot of people don’t know is that Apple is currently patching and reverse engineering the latest exploits and Absinthe program to stop the jailbreak.  So what does that mean to the end user?

It means that once Apple fixes the exploit and updates to iOS firmware 5.1 you will no longer be able to update to a complete untethered iOS 5 jailbreak for a very long time. This is because Apple stops signing and allowing people to update to an older firmware as they only want us to update to the latest firmware available.

This warning goes out to those people happily sitting on a lower firmware not wanting to update and to those with a jailbroken iOS 4 device not wanting to go through the whole process of re-jailbreaking and re-installing their tweaks.

If you want to jailbreak and have the latest software on your iOS device we highly recommend updating to iOS 5.0.1 as soon as possible. After updating you can jailbreak your device knowing your on the latest firmware and at least be up to date.

Note: For those of you using the Dev Teams software unlock be sure and update using a custom firmware. Do not update using an original Apple firmware if you depend on a software unlock.
