Musclenerd has just posted a video demo of him booting an untethered jalbroken iPod Touch 4th gen. Their upcoming jailbreak should be coming out for iOS 4.2.1 once it is stable and the good news is that it burns no exploit holes.
The untethered jailbreak will use the iOS 4.2b3 kernal, good thing we told everyone to save their 4.2b3 shsh’s.

cool, I saved my SHSH. Do i have to downgrade though? Can't i just restore to 4.2.1 and re-jailbreak to untethered?
Tethered redsnow jailbreak is garbage. When installed I never had my ip4 run so shitty. Just downgrade to 4.1 using your shsh blobs if u had the chance to get them saved.
Is there a way around that baseband update that’s required for ip4 on 4.2 yet?
No not yet but the dev team may have a trick up their sleeve
This article “is” the untethered jailbreak for 4.2.1 If u want what this article is suggesting u must wait till the dev team is finished. Or downgrade to 4.1 with shsh blobs saved or keep your tethered redsnow jailbreak till this tool is released.
