You know that one feature? Yeah the one that was highly publicized when the iPhone 4 launched but no one ever uses. Well Verizon might make Apple’s Facetime video calling a bit more usable by allowing it to be used on their 3g network.
While it has been reported before it seems that Apple and Verizon may be finally be coming to an agreement. It is said that Verizon has been testing Facetime over its 3g network recently and the testing has been going quite smooth.
There is a negative though, those with a tiered unlimited data plan may have to change their plan that allows facetime calling over 3g.. Can we say scandalous money hungry company! On the other hand you can jailbreak your iphone and use 3g unrestrictor to get facetime over 3g working on any network.
It seems Verizon and Apple are still negotiating over how 3G FaceTime will work for the carrier’s customers.
While Apple believes that all iPhone owners should be given the opportunity to make and receive FaceTime calls over 3G, Verizon would rather have only their customers on tiered data plans get the feature.
Obviously, Verizon is either worried about the amount of data FaceTime will use, or is looking to use video calling as a way to get customers onto the plans that limit how much data is used.
