While Apple discontinues firmware updates for older generation idevices, the fellas over at http://whited00r.com continue to update their custom firmwares bringing iOS 4+ features to the outdated iphone 3g, iphone 2g, ipod touch, etc.
The whited00r project was created about a year ago with the intent to bring iOS 4.0 features to 3.x based firmwares for older devices that just can’t run iOS 4 very well. It is continually being updated and improved so keep your eye on these special custom firmwares.
