Here’s a little update from the Dev-Team…
With all of the great stuff lined up for us with the 3.0 OS that Apple described today, many 3G owners may find themselves with itchy update fingers. If you find yourself with access to the 3G IPSW for 3.0 via the iPhone Dev Center program, and you are using yellowsn0w, do not update or restore to that official IPSW. You will lose yellowsn0w and find yourself unable to revert the baseband to get it back.
And for those wondering, yes the 3.0 OS is jailbreakable on all devices. It’s just those using 3G yellowsn0w that have to show some restraint and wait for PwnageTool to create a custom IPSW that avoids the baseband update.

If you use twitter you’ll LOVE the new client qTweeter. Think iRealquicksms for tweeting. App allows you to update both twitter and facebook at the same time, from ANY app!!! It’s available in cydia, but there is a trial limit of 15 updates before you must ‘donate’ to unlock the full version. Minimum donation is only $3.95, so get this people!!!! Great app!!
As a temporary work around, here’s two solutions thanks to 3744111 & Takuro over at xsellize. These require a bit advanced knowledge to edit these files.
Temp Fix #1 If you run out of the 15 free updates, you can use this to get another 15 updates over and over.
Locate and use editor to edit
/private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.efiko.qstatususer.plist
You’ll remove a few lines of text from this file. Click HERE for a screenshot of the highlighted text to delete. Save and override original file via ssh.
Temp Fix #2
Using this method you’ll have unlimited updates, BUT you will not be able to open/change the settings of theapp, so you need to make sure you have all the settings the way you like them, run this crack and you’ll have no issues. via Takuro:
“I ran the main binary through a hex editor and basically replaced any occurrence of “tweetsleft” with “tweetsmore.” I then created a new value in the plist called “tweetsmore” and set it to 15.
It was sort of an experimental thing. The end result is that the when you tap the app’s icon to edit preferences, the app crashes, but the main background process still runs fine, so you can still use it to post updates. An interesting side effect is that, in my com.efiko.qstatusbar.plist file, the “tweetsleft” field is now running negative. I tried posting 30 updates in a row, and it hasn’t complained about exceeding any trial limits. I think the background process is using the “tweetsmore” counter to determine if the trial exceeded, but the counter never decrements so it never expires.
So in a nutshell, I think I discovered a very dirty hack that makes the counter run negative. It’s a very unusable hack because it sacrifices the ability to ever update your preferences.”
Respring or reboot after changes and presto Remember just a temp fix, buy the full version!!!! @chad420

MICHAELSD stumbled onto a YouTube video which shows an iPhone
running World of Warcraft through an unreleased mobile gaming service called VolleeX engine. VolleeX is an unreleased service still in beta that will allow users to play hardware-intensive games on internet-capable mobile devices.
The VolleeX engine will work by streaming an instance of the game running on a PC to the Vollee servers to be compressed, where it gets sent to the mobile device. The video shows it running over a 3G network as well, and looks pretty smooth doing so. It even alters the game’s interface to make it more mobile-friendly, which should be a definite plus for playability.
We also hear that Vollee, the company behind VolleeX, has a partnership with Activision | Blizzard, the makers of WoW, lending more credibility to the video.
All in all, it looks good to us. What do you think is it a fake or no???

SweetMail is no longer.
If you use SweetMail you’ve probably noticed the news already. If you don’t use it, SweetMail is an app that shows you your unread emails on your lockscreen.
The service has been shut down due to the high server costs incurred by the developer, Ollie. This message now appears on the lockscreen:
“Due to cost of servers for SweetMail I can no longer run it as I cannot afford to keep it available. Sorry for this issue. Please uninstall SweetMail from your handset.”

Google Product Search
If you use Google Product Search on a regular basis and have an Android smartphone or an iPhone, you should be happy to find out that the feature is now available for both mobile platforms.
According to Google, Product Search for mobile provides users with the same product info that they would get via their PC or laptop. So when you’re in a store, buying something, you can quickly search the Web for additional info about the products you’re interested in.
To use Google Product Search for mobile you don’t have to download anything – just point your Android or iPhone browser to google.com, tap on the “more” tab and then on the “shopping” tab.
Sattelite watching
Viewing earth-orbiting satellites, the Space Shuttle, and the International Space Station with the naked eye is a blast. I’ve been hooked on watching satellites since my folks pointed out Echo-1 to me when I was just 3 years old. Now I find myself looking skyward every time I’m under a dark sky, hoping to catch a glimpse of a tiny light speeding across my field of view.
If you’re going to try to watch a satellite pass, it helps to know when the shiniest spacecraft are going to be zooming overhead. Amateur radio enthusiasts who want to make AMSAT or ARISS contacts need the same information. There’s a cool new iPhone app called GoSatWatch (US$9.99, click opens iTunes) that makes looking for earth-orbiting spacecraft a piece of cake.
Once the app is loaded on your iPhone, all you need to do is tap the colorful icon to start the app, then do some initial setup. You should set up your location and allow the iPhone 3G’s GPS receiver to determine your local latitude and longitude (iPhone and iPod touch users can enter that information in by hand if desired). More than one observing location can be pre-set in the app.Read more →
Lethal
Remember LETHAL? It’s an app that can keep you awake at night by telling you about all of the dangerous things that can kill, maim, or at least injure you. The good thing is that LETHAL does it in a humorous way.
We did a review of LETHAL a few months ago, and now the development team at Elany Arts has taken the app to a new level. Not only did they significantly upgrade LETHAL, but they also dropped the price of the app from US$1.99 down to US$0.99.
What’s changed?
LETHAL now gives a risk ranking for every US and Canadian town or city with a population over 100,000, plus all Canadian National Parks. If you’re within a large metropolitan area, you can watch your LETHAL index change as you drive around.
More disasters! More dangerous animals!
The crime information is more specific, with new updated crime data from the FBI database.
You can view rankings for all locations from most dangerous to least (or vice versa) for all indexes and specific risks. Want to find the #1 area to get killed by a grizzly bear? LETHAL can help.
Speaking of animals, they’re now displayed with their relative risk based on prevalence in the area and confirmed attacks (I griped about this in my earlier review, since they showed mountain lions as a big risk in my suburban neighborhood).
Disasters are also displayed with their relative risk based on prevalence and confirmed incidents.
LETHAL (click opens iTunes) is a fun and fascinating app, and the new lower price and extra-chunky feature set makes it even more worthwhile.
