iPhone OS 3.0 Final Download Warning

June 09, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

For iPhone 3g:

To install it, if you aren’t a dev unplug the internet from your computer and shift+click update and select the ipsw. when its done installing, all you need to do is plug your internet back in, and itunes will recognize it and it will activate it. If you see something saying verification, disconnect from the net.

Note + Warning: You have to have itunes 8.2 to be able to upgrade/restore. Devs are telling us that new terms and conditions need be accepted before downloading iPhone 3.0 GM, which include a warning that applying the developer build may permanently lock your device out of the commercial 3.0 release on June 17th. If you’re not a legit developer who needs this now, more than ever — stay away!

if i am using an unlocked 2.2.1 iphone can i upgrade to this 3.0 software and keep my unlock?

  2. SoSly Says:

It depends on what iPhone, if it is the 1st gen then yes, but do not even touch this update if you are using an iPhone 3g with yellowsnow unlock

  3. Nasser Says:

ya i am on first gen and i can jailbreak to or no?

  4. SoSly Says:

No as of right now there is no official jailbreak and there won't be until the official dev team over at blog.iphone-dev.org releases one. There are some russian people patching the beta 3.0 quickpwns to work but I wouldn't trust it because people are having so much trouble with it. If there is enough evidence of the beta quickpwn from the russians working I will post it.

  5. Nasser Says:

thanks sosly gonna do the update right now!
    Love this site!

  6. SoSly Says:

    Thanks. See ya

  7. SoSly Says:

Hey don’t upgrade…. If your still on i repeat don’t upgrade.. It may lock you out of the official release on june 17th

  8. Nasser Says:

holy that was close, almost did it just know haha well thanks for the heads up

  9. SoSly Says:

Your welcome man I just didn’t want you to upgrade and get locked out next week… Hell i almost updated to untill I did a little more research and saw xsellize’s front page saying warning lol

  10. Slim Says:

well done on this, quick as always..

  11. Zane Says:

i could safely say that this didnt lock my iphone 2g i downgraded from it to 2.2.1

  12. Zane Says:

btw this update didnt have any of the new features.. its the same as the betas.. is something wrong?

  13. nam265 Says:

some features aren't available for 2g (MMS, voice command, digital compass and possibly video recording). beside digital compass, the 2g has the hardware for voice command, MMS and video recording (been doing it with cycorder). Apple is just being a DICK.

  14. Nasser Says:

none of those features will be avalible on the 2g iphone, ever?

  15. SoSly Says:

No, apple is being apple and they are not adding those features to the 2g iPhone, and by those features i am speaking of mms, video recording. You can have those by getting swirlymms and cycorder off of cydia. They just want you to upgrade you iPhones and make more money.

  16. Nam265 Says:

that's not adding. the 2g deserves all of those. the fact that swirlymms and cycorder can offer those features means it's not a hardware limitation. The community was able hack OSX to run on generic PC. Maybe some great developer can make use of 3gs' firmware file and hack it to work on iphone 2g. I have a feeling they just remove some code from the main 3gs iphone OS and create the 2g OS. Unless, they make 5 different OSes (2g, 3g, 3gs, ipod 1st g, and 2g). Then it'll be difficult. But I believe it's doable.

  17. Nasser Says:

is it still risky for iphone users that are jailbroken to update to itunes 8.2?

  18. SoSly Says:

If you want to be able to jailbreak iPhones yes but if your not planning on jailbreaking than go ahead

  19. Nasser Says:

    what about unlock?
    no jailbreak
