Set it to 775 And If You Dont Have The ROMs folder Create it
While You Are in SSH its /var/mobile/media/ROMs/NES and Same Permission 775
This Works For Me On OS 3.0 Jailbreak with RedSn0w 0.7.2

That doesn't work for me either. I used PwnageTool on 3.0 though, and I use iFuntastic for file managing. That shouldn't matter though, right?

Hi,
I've tried anything… but it doesn't work. I've already set the permissions to 777 and 775, NES doesn't crash.. he only can't find the ROMs… put them in privat/var/mobile/Media/ROMs/NES
for example "mario.nes" When I start NES , he doesn't show any ROM
What can I do?
Pleaseeee help
I've installed the NES.app over Itunes ? May I do this ???
Yeah, I tried the other way , now it runs
But could anyone say me the best Game Settings for a good gamespeed and nice sound ?
Also I want the old Controller like the original Nintendo back, is it possible?

Hey, so here is the solutions to your problems. I figured it out last night.
The NES.app folder and the NES file within the folder need to have permissions set to 775 (or 777, whichever works). You can find workable ROMS here:
http://www.theoldcomputer.com/Libarary's/Emu...
You MUST make sure you are using NES ROMs only, if you try to play a SNES ROM in NES.app it will not work. But the website above has ROMs that work, I have tested them. Now, once you SSH them into VAR/MOBILE/MEDIA/ROMs/NES you need to set their permission to whatever your set the NES file permission to. Sync in iTunes when finished the above steps and you should see them in NES.app. Good Luck, I hope this helps!

Thanks Amadeus!

had no problem changing permissions, or SSH'ing the files onto the ipod, the App loads without fail (not via any of the methods mentioned here however, using the crack for apps with 3.0 in cydia). just simple drag and drop into your itunes.
The problem is still finding the roms. Various sites have listed various locations for but the roms and the app to be copied too (which is bothersome as it seems from version to version the path changes). Have tried setting the folder (ROMs and/or NES) as well as each individual .nes file within the folder, the App folder (2DN4302ect ect), the App (NES.app) and the file (NES) inside the .app folder to 755, 775, 777 respectively, even tried on both /root and /mobile connections.
nadda.
I think there needs to be a more comprehensive forum on this issue; I have yet to hear back from the dev on it either :/

I can find nes.app.rar is that what I need? I was confused so i went into my snes4iphone folder and saw it had a ton of files so i’m confused am i supposed to download a whole folder of stuff to my comp THEN SSH it into iphone?
How do I set permissions of a folder or file? I right click it and goto edit but i apparently have nothing to edit with.

you have to extract the nes.app from the rar folder and then install it by dragging and dropping it into your applications folder
October 28th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
So, quick guide:
1. Download the program
2. Unpack the RAR
3. Get OpenSSH for your jailbroken phone (icy or cydia)
4. Get a SFTP client for your platform
5. Open a connection with your phone. Username= root Pass= alpine
6. Copy the NES.app (program folder) into “/Applications”
7. Copy your roms into “/var/mobile/Media/ROMs/NES”. You have to make the folders NES and ROMs (case sense).
8. Open a terminal (either on the phone or through ssh: “ssh -l root ###.###.###.###” where the # are your phones ip address
9. Type “chmod -R 775 /Applications/NES.app”
10. Type “chmod -R 775 “/var/mobile/Media/ROMs/NES”
11. Restart the phone
These are the steps I took on my newly JB 3Gs with 3.1.2
I hope this helps!!

Thanks for this. I was having the exact same problems with the crashing.
After viewing others post I think the one thing thats missing (though someone did post) is you have to also set the permission to 0777 for the actual “NES” file, located in the applications/NES directory as well as setting the permissions to the folder, and the roms folder.
0777 permissions to the NES FILE in the NES directory is what allowed me to play!
