Pre-Ordered iPhone 3G S Units Have Started Shipping

June 16, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

The new iPhones, believed to be manufactured by Foxconn Electronics, are shipping out of Shenzhen, China, which is home to mainland China’s second busiest port, ranking behind only Shanghai.

Although customers provided with shipping notifications weren’t given a specific arrival date, Apple had promised delivery by this Friday, June 19th, the same day handsets go on sale nationwide at AT&T, Apple, Best Buy and Wal-Mart retail stores.

A quick check of the Apple Store appears to suggest that customers who place their pre-order today will still be eligible to receive their device on Friday. Prospective buyers should note, however, that orders placed online for new iPhones aren’t easily manipulated given that each order is tied to an AT&T account.

Customers who wish to change the model of iPhone they’ve ordered may need to wait up to two business days to resubmit their order because it may take that long for AT&T to reset accounts as being eligible for upgrade or early upgrade pricing, some people have been told.

On Wednesday, just two days before iPhone 3G S will go on sale, Apple will release iPhone Software 3.0 for existing iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPod touch users. via appleinsider

June 16, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Everyone has been wondering if we will have to pay more for MMS when it becomes activated and available for the iPhone. The answer is below, no you will not have to pay extra if you have a txt messaging bundle. What i’m still wondering is, what does AT&T mean by txt messaging bundle, do they mean the unlimited txt messaging bundle or any one of the cheaper txt messaging bundles such as the 1500 txt messaging plan??

iPhone 3G S Firmware Already On Apple Servers

June 15, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

No, downloading and installing it on your iPhone 2G won’t magically give it a better camera, video recording, or unicorn tear-powered 2x speed. (It will most likely give you heartache — never mix and match firmware!) but MacRumors forum has already found iPhone OS 3.0 for iPhone hardware 2,1 lingering about Apple.com.

(We’re betting it’s waiting in line for the hardware — curse those pre-order limits!)

Again, we don’t recommend doing anything with it — if you’re getting an iPhone 3G S it’ll come pre-installed. We simply present it as another check box on the road to release, like Find My iPhone going live, and Push Notifications hitting the App Store.

Fun week ahead, no doubt!

iSutra Coming Soon

June 15, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

This app is very interesting, this will definately help make my iPhone be more personal to me lol :) . The big question is, how in the heck is this going to make it through Apples approval process. Maybe with the firmware 3.0 having app parental controls it is going to open up a whole new line up of games and apps that aren’t suitable for young kids.. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Woz BeatBoxing On The iPhone

June 14, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

As you guys may know, Steve Wozniak is the man who created the first Apple Computers back in the 1970s and also helped found Apple inc. Woz is a very cool laid back guy, hes not like any of those other snobby rich people. I remember when the some jailbreaks for the iPhone came out, Woz was interviewed and instead of being against it he was all for it. Woz even said that his phone was jailbroken because he wanted to be able to record video. Anyhow i just wanted to mention him because he is someone I look up to, mad props to Woz for being chill and straight forward. Check out Woz being Woz trying to beat box haha :)

iPhone 2010 to go Multi-Core ARM Next Gen?

June 14, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

CNET has an interesting post up detailing what we can expect in the next generation ARM processor. Just yesterday we took a look at the iPhone 3G’s ARM 11 vs. the new iPhone 3G S’ Cortex ARM8 and the difference was impressive — most impressive. Well, next year is promising a dual-core ARM Cortex A9…!

Icebike sent this in, wondering out loud: “Is it too soon to start speculating on 2010?” And the simple answer is “no, no it’s not!” It’s longstanding practice here at TiPb to wait a polite 1.372 seconds after a new iPhone model is introduced, and then begin with “So, next year–”

That spirit in mind, TiPb can’t help but wonder what this, combined with multi-core PowerVR GPU’s, wrapped up into custom system-on-chips by Papermaster, the PA Semi team, and all those new GPU gurus toiling away in Steve’s basement, means for a 2010 iPhone? (No, I won’t call it an iPhone HD — yet!)

AT&T is Sold Out of Pre-order iPhone 3G S Units

June 14, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

AT&T has announced that they have sold out of available iPhone 3G S units for preorder.

According to a screenshot obtained by the BoyGeniusReport, AT&T is informing customers that they will have a 1 to 2 week wait for the new device:

“Due to the extraordinary demand for the iPhone 3G S, all customers placing preorders on Saturday, June 13, 2009, and later, should be informed that their order will arrive at the store 7 to 14 days from the order date.

Only preorders placed Friday, June 12, 2009, or earlier, are expected to arrive in time for the 7:00 a.m. opening on Friday, June 19, 2009. Customers will receive an e-mail notification when their new iPhone 3G S has arrived and is available for pick up.

Preordering is still a great option for customers to guarantee they receive their iPhone 3G S as quickly as possible.”

Remember there still is the regular line at AT&T, the Apple Store, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy.

iPhone artists: paint your way to $500 in the Pogo Stylus art contest

June 12, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

The iPhone is designed to work with your fingers, but those stubby appendages aren’t the best for doing detailed work. That’s why Ten One Design developed the Pogo Stylus (US$14.95), an aluminum stylus with a special tip that allows it to work on the capacitive display of the iPhone and iPod touch. It’s also handy for operating your iPhone with gloves on, or for anyone who has trouble working with the touchscreen directly.

Ten One Design is holding an art contest through July 1st, 2009. The rules are simple; you must use a Pogo Stylus to create a work of art on an iPhone or iPod touch. You can use whatever software you desire, although most of the artwork seen below was created with the help of Brushes [App Store]. The winner will have $500 paid to his or her PayPal account.
