The Dev-Team has finally stated that the old jailbreak they released just a few weeks ago is safe to jailbreak the new firmware version 3.0.1 Apple released this week. Below is an excerpt on what they had to say on their blog:

” The 3.0.1 release is a “branch” from 3.0 that occurs (code-wise) before all the 3.1 betas.  The programs redsn0w needs to change for the jailbreak are identical when you compare the 3.0 and 3.0.1 versions.  It seems pretty much the only changes Apple made were for the SMS bug, which affects programs that redsn0w doesn’t touch.  That’s why you can re-use redsn0w 0.8 on 3.0.1 even though it was written for 3.0.

And since 3.0.1 doesn’t touch the baseband either, ultrasn0w 0.9 works for those needing the soft unlock.  Just install it from the repo666.ultrasn0w.com repository using Cydia as usual.

We’ll at some point fix redsn0w to recognize both 3.0 and 3.0.1 IPSW’s, but really that’s the only change that would be made to it.  Everything else would be identical, so there’s no need to wait for the “proper” version that recognizes the 3.0.1 IPSW as valid.”

This extension brings a full download manager to Safari, complete with running and controlling multiple downloads, accessible via a new toolbar item. This is an improvement on other existing extensions that take over the currently displayed document to display status information, hindering your navigation. Safari Download Manager (SDM) allows you to continue browsing while downloads are taking place (and can even download in the background, as Safari will not exit if there are any pages loaded).

Users can configure filetypes to download and add their own extensions and mimetypes to the download list.

Let me start of by telling you guys that yes, apple did fix the 3.0.1 threat of Miller’s, but MuscleNerd, of the Dev-Team, has received a new hack by Luis Miras and Zane Lackey. Leaving the firmware 3.0.1 not safe, again!

The problem is the operator problem and has already been shared with the GSM Alliance.

The attack is very simple: A text message is sent with a clickable links and once you click on it, the hacker will have FULL access to your device.

All that we ask is IF you end up with a text message like so, simple delete it or turn off your phone until further notice. Hackers are looking into this and are acting fast upon this threat.

Nowhere else has posted a new video that shows’ iJoyPad in action on an iPhone 3GS. This beautiful controller, interfaces to the device through the Dock and allows you to control all movements with dedicated buttons.

Caution: Do not update your iPhone if you have it jailbroken or are using the ultrasn0w unlock. This firmware update has been confirmed to break the 3G S Jailbreak.

All that this update appears to do is fix the SMS vulnerability that we reported on a couple of days ago. The release notes are very very vague so we can’t really provide more information until we install it ourselves and poke around, which we will do asap and either update this post or make a new one edit: updated red txt above
