Zipcar App

The iPhone can do many things. Now it can even lock and unlock a car and start the engine.

“The iPhone is a pipeline for almost one-third of our members,” says Luke Schneider, Zipcar’s chief technology officer. “This is something they have been asking for.” Read more…

iPhone App Developer Jacks Your Phone Number to Pitch You More Apps

September 30, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Swiss software firm Mogo has a novel strategy, for iPhone apps! Step one: Release a free version of your paid app. Step two: Use it to secretly steal users’ phone numbers.Step three: Call them, obnoxiously. Step four: Profit!

We’re all used to a little in-app upselling by now, but hey, coders gotta eat. For an app developer to call your phone and harangue you into upgrading to a paid version of their software, however, is really brazen, and something Apple shouldn’t tolerate. Read more…

FIFA 10 coming to iPhone this Friday

September 30, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

The iPhone, apparently — EA has announced that their soccer flagship FIFA 10 will be available for the iPhone this Friday, which is the same day the console game shows up in stores as well. The game will have everything the full versions have, including real teams and leagues, a licensed soundtrack, and all of the usual soccer standbys. One thing missing: online multiplayer, though local wifi multiplayer will be available.

Sounds good to us, especially if you’re a fan of the sport all those crazy Europeans call football. The app should be $9.99, befitting of a premium EA sports app, though there will probably be a sale on it sooner or later. Now, about that actual Mac version…
