AT&T Forcing iPhone Users Without iPhone Data Plan To Switch Services
September 02, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News
If your a happy AT&T iPhone user but aren’t paying for an iPhone data plan you may be in for a wake up call. An AT&T customer named Jorge recieved a txt message earlier letting him know that he does not have the necessary data plan required for his iPhone he uses and if he does not call ATT customer support to change it by Sept. 14 he risks interruption of his data service. What do you have to say about this? Do you think it is wrong and people should choose whether they want to pay for the data plan or not?? Comment your thoughts and opinions.

I got this too.. I think its because when I switched to personal from corporate liability, the ATT website listed my phone as Iphone. I am using the iphone 1st gen unlocked w/o data for over 6 months now. Just changed the phone listed on the ATT site as a nokia and hope that will take care of it..

Changing your phone type with ATT didnt do a thing for me. They pull the phone type from your IMEI number and can add the data plan to your bill if they discover you are using an Iphone. That is what just happened to me with my unlocked 2G IPhone which I purchased used off of a friend who was already out of contract. This is the reason AT&T lost my 3-line family plan to T-Mobile after refusing to take the data plan off of my bill unless I got another phone.
Oh, and by the way I was a 10 YEAR LONG customer with AT&T!! Shows the fantastic customer support they have!!
