Note: DO NOT UPDGRADE IF YOU ARE UNLOCKED USING ULTRASN0W. Make sure if you are using the ultrasn0w unlock you use the correct custom firmware that disables the update to your baseband. Don’t forget that if you use a hacktivated iphone and you are a legit att user you will lose push notifications so make sure you get the right firmware. Thanks to vagetaqtd, ipodtouchdude over at xsellize for the uploads

Done the upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1 with success on 3G 16Gb using thi. I only needed jailbreak so everything is working smoothly. I had a bump after restoring my Cydia apps because it kept entering in safe mode. After going through the removal of several apps I found out that the trouble maker is Weather Icon v.2.2.4 from David Ashman that was causing the crashes. Removed it and reinstall the rest. Now everything is running smooth again hope Mr. Ashman will update his app to 3.1 version.

Hi many thanks for posting these links. Could I just clarify that these Custom Firmwares do not update the baseband.

The firmware for 1g iPod Touch doesn’t work for me. I’ve tried it on both Windows XP and 64bit Windows 7, using both iTunes 8.2 and 9, and it always gives me an error. I’ve tried both recovery mode and DFU mode.

Nevermind, I figured it out. You have to be on a jailbroken 3.0, then put the device into recovery mode (connect to iTunes screen) and then restore to the jailbroken 3.1. Be sure to restore, not update, and to set it up as a new device.

Hey quick question because I don’t see that it was asked. What is the difference in partition size. Is it just extra space for Cydia or does it have some other advantage?
September 21st, 2009 at 6:32 am
Its extra space and supposively extra ram and a smoother running iPhone but your usable storage for media such as itunes music, video will go down
