Chronic Dev: Green Poison Update
The chroniv dev team posted some progress update on the ipod touch 3G jailbreak. Below is what they had to say:
For those that are following our twitter, you probably already know this, but for all the others I thought I would post an “official” progress update here. Again, some of this is old news to some people.
First of all, we have tested the greenpois0n exploit on the iPod touch 3G, and it works still 
Just to have a little bit of fun and to show something to prove that it is actually executing our code and not just crashing, I wrote a teeny payload that copied and image to the device’s framebuffer, and tweeted it the other day.
We are hard at work right now, so sit tight. We plan for the final product to be a program that will not even require the device to be put in DFU, just recovery mode, and it can do that automatically if you plug in a device that is not yet in recovery mode. It will then do on-the-fly patching of the current running iBoot / iBEC / iBSS, decrypt and patch the LLB, iBoot, and DeviceTree in NOR, then reflash them. After this, it will load the kernel from the fs, decrypt and patch it, then use it to boot a very small ramdisk to perform the jailbreak steps that need to be done at filesystem level.
Again, hang tight, it will be worth it

jailbreak iphone 3gs 3.1 out of the box. please i think its more important than 3g ipod touch we need our unlocks or atleast make a way tp downgrade

i did own an ipod touch 2g and it was great to see that the chronic dev led the jailbreak right to the iphone dev. Unfortunetly my ipod was stolen in july after i had jailbroken and just fully hacked it up. And i just want to say thank you for trying to jailbreak the ipod touch 3g when the iphone dev team makes no effort

All those who are waiting – get ready to be disappointed. Why do you think its taking ages to make a untethered JB. Its very hard (nearly impossible)to jailbreak the new boot rom. PERIOD

Tethered!!! What?, why would I use Chronic Dev if the jailbreak is still tethered? Blackra1n already works with ipt3 tethered, why release another jailbreak if it doesn’t accomplish anything new? I have heard that greenpo1son would be untethered but I have no solid facts.

Yes it will be untethered but if you have been up to date with the scene, geo hot just showed off his untethered jailbreak the other day for all new iphones and ipod touches.

I just bought my iphone yesterday and I’ve been waiting forever to get one. I also have been wanting to jailbreak it, but unfortunately It came with the 3.1.3 software with the newer bootrom. I wish you guys with speedy success while i wait patiently for a iphone 3gs jailbreak (or should i say a little impatiently

Itouch 3.1.3 jailbreak “Gp” will be released after the Ipad with 3.1.3 firmware is released. This is so that ipads can also be jailbroken, if they release it before Apple will have time to fix then ipad so it cannot be jailbroken.
