Apple adjusts iPod touch, nano, classic prices ahead of event

September 09, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Apple lowered the prices of many of its iPod offerings overnight, prior to today’s event, with the 32GB iPod touch seeing the largest price drop, from $399 to $279.

In addition, the 16GB iPod touch dropped from $299 to $249 and the 8GB model fell from $229 to $189. On the iPod nano side, the 16GB capacity decreased to $149 (from $189), and the 8GB offering slid to $129 (from $149). Finally, the iPod classic had its price cut to $229 (from $249).

That means that before Apple even announces any products today, as it is planned to do, the iPod maker has already undercut the price of Microsoft’s upcoming Zune HD, set to launch Sept. 15 with a 32GB model for $290. Prior to Wednesday’s price cuts, the comparable iPod touch model was more than $100 more expensive than the forthcoming Microsoft product — now, Apple has bested its rival to the north by $10.

However, when pitting the 16GB models against each other, Microsoft still comes out ahead by $30.

Apple today is widely expected to unveil a new iPod touch with a camera. Speculation suggests that one model will offer 64GB, and the morning price cuts have likely set the stage for that spot in the lineup.

While Apple normally takes down its store to implement changes and build hype, this time it did not.

Yoko Ono Leaks Beatles Availability on iTunes Tomorrow?

September 09, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

We’ll believe it when we see it but a late comment by John Lennon’s Heiress seems to indicate that the whole Beatles back catalog will be showing up on iTunes…perhaps at tomorrow’s event.

Update: The Sky link is down but here’s some twitterin’ evidence below.

Update 2: A Sky News employee has told us they were told to cut the story out immediately and not to comment.  Directive came “from the very top”.  Here’s a Google Cache of the story if there are any unbelievers…This is getting interesting!

Update 3: Google’s News cache is gone but it is still in the general cache.  Kinda Twilight Zone at this point.  In the other corner we have EMI’s chief saying it ain’t going down… “tomorrow”.  Shouldn’t Sky News be issuing a retraction – or something at this point?  Isn’t that what normal News news orgs do if they run a story and then pull it?  This is very very weird.

Saurik Creates New Ecid Grabber Using Cydia For Easier 3G S Jailbreak

September 08, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Following the update of Cydia, you may have noticed a new “Home Page” through which Saurik promises a “simpler life” with regard to the future Jailbreak your device. What happens when you accept?

IMG_0282 IMG_0283 IMG_0284

In the past, we provided several guides in order to save the ECID of your iPhone or certificate that will allow you to install a custom firmware even if Apple will change the process of checking the authenticity of the software.

In principle, the process to save the ECID is simple but now Cydia unable to do so automatically, by clicking a button. Your certificate will be saved to the server which will be Saurik’s “warehouse” for all users.

When the DevTeam releases their new jailbreak software it will send a request to the server and if your Saurik ECID is present, the jailbreak release will take place without any problem.

In this way Apple can never stop in any way, the Jailbreak your iPhone 3GS.

Latest iPod Touch Speculation

September 08, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Networking to spin further speculation regarding Apple’s event tomorrow. There are various rumors from various sources that we quote in one article.

The first concerns a new version of the App Store that we should end up with the Firmware 3.1. The application, with a new division, would find content more easily, providing greater visibility to all developers. This improvement was also announced by Apple itself but it was never fixed a date.

The second title comes from Mark Armet, the developer of Instapaper and Tumblr. According to him the change of the entire iPod line will result in the disappearance of the iPod Classic for iPod Touch 4 new models with different capacities. There will be an 8GB model will cost only $ 149, up to the 64GB version at $ 349.

Others have focused on the possibility of having the iPhone TV rentals to lead and manage TV shows directly on the iPhone. Fluke firmly believes the arrival of a Beatles album fully remastered.

TechCruch finally argues that iTunes 9 will integrate a service based on a server “cloud” that will act as a bridge between the application of computers and our iPhone, perceptive to watch movies in streaming.

In short, the expectations are really so many, we hope to remain truly surprised!

Apple Facing Problems With New iPod Touch?

September 08, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

According to one of our reliable source (however, it remains a rumor), Apple is facing problems with the production of the new iPod Touch. The issue would be linked to the new camera module. We did not get any further details, but the problem has been spotted in the first dozen of thousands units produced. Those units have been put aside.
We do not know if the problem has been solved in the meantime. In any case, the iPod Touch availability would be delayed and initial volumes reduced. If the problem has not been solved yet, then the updated iPod Touch might be significantly delayed.

c4syncapp: The Next Level In iPhone Cracking

September 07, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Reilly the person who has put out appsync that lets you use cracked ipa files on your iPhone has created a new cracked mobileinstallation patch. Below is what Reilly had to say:

c4syncapp

” You probably already know that my first installd patch is floating around the net (also known as AppSync :D )

But I have something better: a patched installd file which doesn’t need ANY changes to the info.plist.

What does that mean:
It means there is no SignerIdentity needed anymore :) So all checks developers do to the info.plist will fail as long as we have the original info.plist.

Where is the problem:
1. this only works on OS 3.0, not 2.x. so people with 2.x will still have to have signerIdentity in the info.plist :/

2. all the cracking tools are currently modifying the info.plist, so to get it working we need to get the Read more…

New AT&T Specific Features Rumored For Future iPhone Update

September 07, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Apple and its exclusive US wireless provider AT&T could soon deliver new carrier-specific features to iPhone users through a future software update in a bid to increase customer satisfaction.

At least one of the enhancements, according to those claiming knowledge of the matter, would be similar to the Visual Voicemail feature made popular on the iPhone two years ago, in that it may require AT&T to tailor changes to its network.

In particular, the two parties are said to be mulling the possibility of enabling the following capabilities through an update to the iPhone’s software that could arrive before year’s end:

  • Overage Alerts: A proposed new setting under the iPhone’s “Phone” preferences would allow users to customize a push notification — in the form of a badge, message, or sound — to be issued when they’re in danger of exceeding their monthly anytime minutes.
  • New Voicemail Options: A new “Voicemail” setting, also proposed as an addition to the touch-screen handset’s “Phone” preferences, would provide a means for users to disable Read more…

CallRecording: First Application To Record Outgoing Calls On The iPhone

September 07, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

CallRecording is the first application available in Cydia that allows you to record your outgoing calls from your iPhone. Let it be known that the operation is illegal in some countries that do not protect our privacy and that currently only works for many Israelis. We see the operation in detail below:

IMG_0255 IMG_0256 IMG_0255

we just insert the code and the phone number that we intend to call. Immediately after the call starts with the normal screen, a native of Apple. Once we finished the conversation, we will have to wait a few minutes and receive an SMS containing a link that will take us directly to download the audio file on our call made.

To register, connecting to an international service for which the call will also cost more than normal. http://62.219.50.27/recsys As I said, privacy is not assured because all the recorded conversations are accessible by anyone through this link: http://62.219.50.27/recsys

In conclusion we suggest not to use even when the service will include the Italian numbers. CallRecording is available in Cydia via the BigBoss repository.
