Charge Two iPhones From One USB Using Dualink

January 23, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

It’s two iPhone chargers in one! Yes, the DuaLink cable for the iPod and iPhone serves up its own fun-sized USB hub that, as you would expect from a title like the one above, comes with a sole USB connector on one end and two iPod/iPhone connectors on the other.

From MacWorld:

Quote:
Cable vendor CableJive has introduced the DuaLink, a USB dock-connector cable for iPods and iPhones that lets you charge and sync two devices simultaneously.

As one can clearly see from the image of the DuaLink in action, CableJive was thoughtful enough to “bulk up” the cables used
for DuaLink, which seem capable of withstanding more wear and tear than the flimsy default cable that Apple packs with iPhones
and iPods. Read more…

Multi-Touch Trackpad Gaming On A MacBook

January 22, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Illusion Labs, developer of the popular iPhone game Touchgrind, has posted a video demonstrating a Mac version of the game utilizing the multi-touch capabilities of the MacBook’s trackpad. The developer describes it as tech demo and hasn’t committed to releasing it. Illusion Labs is the same developer who demoed their iPhone games on a large multi-touch table in 2009. All of Apple’s notebooks now contain a multi-touch trackpad that could be used for such purposes. In fact, Apple’s multi-touch trackpads can track up to 11 distinct multi-touch presses.

Steve Ballmer Signs Student’s Macbook Pro

January 22, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Earlier this week, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer gave the keynote address to the Nashville Technology Council, which was held at Trevecca Nazarene University (TNU) in Nashville, TN. Steve, who is on a multi-city tour to promote Microsoft, joined other prominent technology professionals like Abbie Lundberg, editor-in-chief of CIO Magazine.

After the speeches were done, Steve did a meet-and-greet with TNU Students to answer brief questions, sign autographs and so on. One student asked for Steve’s autograph — on a MacBook Pro.

To his credit, Steve handled the awkward moment well (as another student’s camera rolled), writing “Need a new one? Steve Ballmer” smack-dab over the laptop’s logo. Kudos to Steve for his cool-headed response (we can’t imagine what Steve Jobs would do if asked to sign a Dell) and for that student with the nerve to pull such a stunt.

Is Apple Really Going For iPad Trademark??

January 22, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Even though the WSJ pretty much broke the story on next week’s tablet announcement (when the mainstream media prints something as true, it’s true, right?), that hasn’t kept the crazy tablet rumors from coming in. Earlier in the week, MacRumors and the no-comment-on-the-name JesusTablet.com delivered more evidence that Apple is fighting for the “iPad” trademark. While it’s already nailed down the name elsewhere, in the US, Fujitsu actually originally applied for the moniker, though Apple has made the case to the FTC to pick it up since Fujitsu has “abandoned” it and no one else has used it. Double Dock Connectors
We’re hearing that the tablet is going to have one on the vertical bottom edge and one on the horizontal bottom edge, enabling this device for the first time to be both mounted and charged either in portrait or landscape mode.
