If you’re one of the many iPad customers having issues with charging, there may be relief in sight. A few popular PC motherboard manufacturers have released new drivers for their mobos that supposedly enable (or help with) iPad charging. If you have an ASUS, Gigabyte, or MSI motherboard, you can try hitting those links, downloading and installing the new drivers, and see if that helps. Unfortunately, this is still a YMMV situation — there are a ton of different factors that go into the kind of power that can come off of a USB port, and even if you have the right software for the right motherboard manufacturer, there’s no guarantee it’ll work exactly right. ModMyi forum member Knisitruck has managed to hack Netflix into working on the iPhone.
I needed the mediaplayer frameworks from an iPad [/System/Library/Frameworks/MediaPlayer.framework], thanks to one of your forum members, I was able to get that. Then, it still wouldn’t work. Noticing my winterboard theme was overriding the mediaplayer layout I disabled it, retried the app and viola, it worked! All that had to be changed was a couple lines in the applications info.plist file and the mediaplayer frameworks, along with a manual install/permissions. (My other apps requiring mediaplayer still run fine.) Read more…

Superiphone.cz claims to have put a next generation iPhone screen under a microscope to determine its pixel density and display technology.
According to the site, the iPhone 4G will use an IPS panel like the iPad with a 960×640 resolution.
Engadget notes that this would quadruple the total number of pixels when compared to the iPhone 3GS, making rescaling apps fairly easy and allowing Apple to claim the highest pixel density seen on a phone yet. Read more…

SNES (HD) is my iPad port of the popular Super Nintendo emulator Snes9x. Though based on ZodTTD’s iPhone port snes4iphone, I have rewritten most of the iPhone specific code to match my own coding style and the iPad environment. Those interested can check out the source at my github repo. It still needs a few finishing touches, but games are very playable and I think it’s cool enough to let loose into the wild. Please let me know what you think!

A data protection vulnerability has been discovered with non-jailbroken pin protected 3GS iPhones that bypasses authentication and accesses data
The vulnerability was discovered by Bernd Marienfeldt and applies to various firmware versions.
This data protection flaw exposes music, photos, videos, podcasts, voice recordings, Google safe browsing database, game contents… by in my opinion the quickest compromising read/write access discovered so far, without leaving any track record by the attacker. Read more…
Mozilla will soon release an iPhone app called Firefox Home which will give iPhone users instant access to their Firefox browsing history, bookmarks, and currently open tabs. It also will provide the Firefox “Awesome Bar” capability that enables people to get to their favorite web sites with minimal typing.
Firefox Home for iPhone is part of a broader Mozilla effort to provide a more personal Web experience with more user control. For devices or platforms where we’re unable to provide the “full” Firefox browser (either technically or due to policy), we aim to provide users with “on the go” instant access to their personal Firefox history, bookmarks and open tabs on their iPhones, giving them another reason to keep loving Firefox on their desktops.
