Installous 3.0 Released
Installous, Hackulous’ application for the iPhone, iPod, and iPad which lets you browse for and install cracked apps straight on your device, is getting a major facelift. In previous announcements we discussed our plans, including native app installation, API polls, announcements, concurrent/multiple downloads and installation tasks, native interface for browsing, and graphical improvements.
We’re pleased to announce the release of Installous 3.0.1. It’s the first public release of Installous 3, which was previously only available to our Advancements users (after donations) during its beta testing phase.
Installous is relatively stable, but there are a couple caveats which you must take note of.
- Native Installation has a small bug in which installations report completion a little early on older devices (iPhone 2G, iPod 2G, etc.). More specifically, older processors. We’re not entirely sure why yet, and it’s the reason why were we absurdly delayed in the public release. It is the default installation option, since most of our users are on newer devices. But if you’re on an older device and you’re installing a huge app, we suggest changing to bash installation in the settings tab by turning off native installation.
- AppSync is required for this. Either 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, or 4.0 (which doesn’t exist yet, but still).
- It seems like the first time some people run it, it will not connect to apptrackr properly or something. Restart springboard or your entire device, and the problem shouldn’t persist. We’ll figure out what’s wrong later.
HOW DO I GET IT?
If you already have Installous from our repo installed, Installous 3 should come as an update. Upgrade to the latest version.
If you do not have Installous yet, follow these steps:
- Add http://cydia.hackulo.us/ to your Cydia sources list on your iDevice.
- Search for Installous.
- Install!

CREDITS
Please, people, thank docmorelli and rwxr-xr-x for their hard work in developing Installous 3, despite busy schedules. *golf clap*
TODO
We have a list of things we want to do soon, including but not limited to:
- Fixing bugs. Yes, there will be quite a few.
- Graphical enhancements.
- iPad support (universal app).
- Fixing the native installation issues.

Try installing through rock. It only uninstalls safari download plugin. That’s the problem. Hackulo.us needs get rid of the dependency to uninstall safari download plugin. Because cydia is smarter than Rock, it will uninstall everyapp that’s “needs” safari download plugin. Sosly, you should upload installousv3 to your repo without that dependency needed to uninstall. Would be great!!

The categories don’t seem to be working, it only has the “all apps” category. Any idea how to get others?

I installed Installous through Cydia and reinstalled Safari Download Plugin and Dtunes afterward in Rock.

Installous installs an improved version of Safari Download Plugin that allows installation of IPAs right from the browser. You can redownload Dtunes from ROCK.
