ATT To Offer Insurance For iPhone’s June 6th

BGR has the details. As of yesterday, May 27th, AT&T is rolling out a new insurance plan for iPhones called Mobile Protect. You must enroll in the plan within 30-days of upgrading/purchasing a new iPhone. AT&T is launching this service as: “Lack of iPhone insurance is a leading source of iPhone related customer complaints.”
The cost is $13.99/month and the deductibles currently run anywhere from $99 to $199 on current models. According to the info sheet below, you can buy the service through AT&T or the App Store.
Seems a little late in the 3GS cycle for insurance plans so we’re going to go out on a limb and say that this is primarily for the new iPhone 4/HD. Closeup below.
Until now, this was one area that Verizon and the other carriers could differentiate themselves from AT&T. Obviously, there isn’t much else to the news except that it starts on June 6th, one day before the WWDC keynote. Interesting.
