HTML5 Porn Coming To An iPad Near You

May 19, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

If Steve Jobs has one unfulfilled dream left , that would be to give this world the ultimate puritan gift: “freedom from porn” . He fought long and hard against the web standard for video and a common video format and he practically destroyed it. But it seems that the web gods must be some crazy hairy palmed folks, because they are not smiling down on his royal Steve-ness.

Today, YouPorn ( 18+ ) announced that they are busy encoding their entire video library into HTML5 format, and therefore it will be available on any iDevice in this world.  It will be just a matter of time until the rest of the adult industry will embrace HTML5 too, and then what Steve?

Freedom from porn? More like the beginning of an annual jerk-fest…

May 19, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

A few days ago, Wi-Fi Sync for our iDevices was made available and life has been pretty sweet ever since.  As you might know, the wireless syncing capabilities comes as a combo: iDevice app and Mac client ( Windows coming soon ) . The problem is that, the Mac client will cause iTunes to go about 80% ( during a restore ) and then just hang.

There is an easy fix for this. Remove the Mac client, restore your iDevice and then re-install the client. Or you can do everything via Xcode, and you won’t have to remove the client…

Apple No-Cash Policy for iPad Disliked

May 18, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

As loyal readers know, Apple stores are not particularly cash-friendly; in the case of the iPhone and the iPad, they’re downright cash-hostile. Both devices require a credit or debit card for purchase, although you can waltz down the block and buy an iPad with cash at Best Buy if you like (and you can use a gift card for iPhone, but not for iPad).

There are some points on Apple’s side for the pay-with-plastic requirement (the primary one being that it’s hard to enforce the two-per-person purchase limit without some way to track buyers), but it’s clear that the rule is a source of annoyance to some potential customers.
