May 18, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

App Advice notes that Tweetie 2 has disappeared from the App Store, suggesting that a release of the official Twitter iPhone application may be right around the corner.

Twitter last month acquired Tweetie and has been planning to rebrand it as the company’s official Twitter application. At the time of its acquisition, the application was updated with an easter egg announcing the forthcoming change, and its App Store description saw the addition of a note regarding its future. Mark The Spot App Delivering Results

May 18, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Back at the end of 2009 when AT&T introduced its Mark the Spot app, some were skeptical that the location-aware self-reporting tool for coverage issues and dropped calls was anything more than a sop tossed to irked iPhone owners in the interest of better PR for the cell carrier.

Still, like the ‘close door’ button in a high-rise elevator, any opportunity for feedback or a sense of control is eagerly seized upon by us crazy hairless primates, and the presumed database of GPS-tagged trouble spots has been accumulating. Where, however, are the improvements? The new towers? The carefully tweaked coverage maps? Is this thing even on? Read more…

May 18, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

A premature press release posting earlier this month has now been made official, with Visa announcing that its partnership with DeviceFidelity will see the launch of a specially-designed iPhone case that will integrate a microSD slot to facilitate contactless payment transactions.

DeviceFidelity, Inc. today announced the availability of its In2Pay solution for iPhone, designed to enable iPhone users to make contactless transactions, such as Visa mobile payments, by simply waving the iPhone in front of a contactless payment terminal. The solution combines DeviceFidelity’s In2Pay microSD technology with a specially designed, patent-pending protective case that adds mobile contactless capability and works with iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G. Steve Ballmer Puppet Reviews The iPad

May 17, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

If you are familiar with  Loren Feldman from 1938Media, you know what this video is all about. In this video, Steve Ballmer doesn’t seem to like the iPad. No multi-tasking, no Farmville, no porn. How can this this thing be called a web tablet when you can’t get to 95% of the web with this thing. It’s like a big Palm pilot. Let me guess the next version will come with a camera. Before they get there though they need to install a clock and calculator on this thing.

Notcom Announces TinyUmbrella

May 17, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

If you are not a new iDevice user, or new to the “dark side” , then you know what firmware umbrella and tinytss is.  If you don’t here you go:

  • Umbrella – The tool simply performs the same challenge request that iTunes does during an iDevice restore. The difference is that it saves the results in a single shsh file. This file will give you the ability, to restore back to a previous firmware indefinitely
  • TinyTSS -  is a small java app that acts as your very own signature service.When iTunes verifies your restore for your iDevice, it ‘phones home’ to see if you are allowed to restore to the version you are requesting. With TinyTSS + the shsh blob file(s) you obtained with Umbrella, you will be able to restore to the version of those shsh files forever! Read more…

Use An iPad Micro SIM In An iPhone

May 14, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

There are countless videos and blog posts telling you how you can take your full size SIM card and cut it down to fit in your iPad, but frankly, that’s idiotic. I mean really, who’s going to cut up the SIM card they’re using in their $85+ a month iPhone to put in their iPad when they could just pay $30 a month for unlimited date on the iPad. Yes, you might be cutting up a T-Mobile SIM, but let’s face it… Do you really want to be using EDGE on an iPad?

Anyhow, that’s not what this post is about. I’m going to show you how to do the exact opposite of that, how to take your Micro SIM and use it in your iPhone for cheap data only service. It’s easier than you might think. Read more…

26% of Web Video Is Ready For The iPad

May 14, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Here’s an interesting stat — 26% of the video on the Web is iPad-ready, according to Mefeedia, a firm that supposedly monitors online video around the Internet. You may think that’s low (that means 74% of the web can’t be seen on the iPad), but that number actually represents a good amount of growth, as just a scant few months ago, only 10% of Web video was iPad-accessible, or encoded in H.264 or HTML 5, not Flash.
