Geohot Jailbreaks Apple iPhone 4
After months of silence, Geohot has finally published a new blog post in which he talks about iPhone 4 jailbreak situation, limera1n, and Pwned4life exploit which he recently talked about at the Nuit Du Hack conference in Paris. According to his latest blog post, he has managed to jailbreak his iPhone 4 the day it got delivered to him by mail. This is what he writes on his blog:

Got one of these in the mail today and figured I’d give it a shot.
As far as a release goes, it probably won’t happen from me. limera1n is little more than a raindrop on a website; it was never mentioned by me previous to this post. pwned4life is a complete invention of some blogger in a basement somewhere. When I said pwned for life, I was referring to the original iPhone, 3G, and Touch; which of course are, by the aptly named PwnageTool.
Again, please don’t ask for release dates. Every person that does makes me want to release a little bit less.
As for the release dates, it probably wont happen from him. Comex’s Spirit like jailbreak tool is still the most likely candidate for the release, which will probably happen once Apple rolls out the new iOS 4.0.1 / 4.1 firmware update for iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G.

Geohot honestly is a joke. All he does is get pissed off when ppl ask a simple question. Yes sometimes ppl are obnoxious and makes him mad. He acts like he’s the only one that can jb an iPhone 4. If he won’t release it , then te dev team will, and if they can’t then someone else in the future will. Why would he even bother posting up his blogs about his jb wen he states he won’t share it to public? To show off? I think so.

Wow! Why does he bother talking about it if he has no plans to release? Just keep it to himself and enjoy his jailbroken iphone 4 lol. We can wait for someone else to grace us with an ACTUAL release.

I like geo but sometimes the things he does confuse me. He’s a cool dude if you actually talk to him, I get him on irc sometimes. I respect him as he is one of the only ones other than the dev team that produces jailbreaks no matter what. His ego does kind of annoy me but he’s my savior when it comes to release the jailbreak so to this I say whatever move on nothing to see here.

we all respect him for all the previous jb he relased, but your right, its his ego that makes people annoyed. I agree just forget him and wait for the dev team to release something. No need to sit here and hate on him. peace.

Everyone saying stuff about ego and whatever shouldn’t be saying such things. This guy does this as a hobby and gives it to us millions of iphone and ipt users for FREE, its not about ego. Think about it, you have an exploit, so does comex, and he says his is ready, meaning packaged and ready to upload to his spirit jailbreak website. Of course that doesn’t take more than a few minutesto do, but still. Geohot is keeping HIS exploit undercover, waiting for comex’s jb, AND if it gets BLOCKED (meaning Apple looked for vulnerabilities on 4.0 and blocked them in 4.0.1 or 4.1 whichever comes out, something that comex is wishing doesn’t happen), GeoHot can step in and release something after 4.0 with his exploit.
It makes perfect sense, it’s not ego.
Think, if you did this as a hobby, and 90% of your twitter tweets are people asking JB? OMFG JB? RELEASE? GOD URE GAY GIMME JB…
you wouldn’t want to release, you’d be annoyed, when the thing you want IS ALREADY ON ITS WAY (SPIRIT BY COMEX)!!! We are ALL playing it smart by WAITING the fuck out for 4.0.1 or 4.1 or w/e it will be.

People vave short memory. This is exactly the situation back in oct nov and 3.1.2. He Said exactly the same thing, then out of the blue he released blackra1n.
I feel god we have 2-3 teams that bother to
do the work on the iPhone.

agreed….id be annoyed too if i had thousands of people bothering me everyday about the SAME THING. Also he’s pretty young so that explains his so called “ego” and “attitude.” If he was like 55, he’d probably not sweat the little stuff and be more easy going. either way, he’s the man for JB my phone and if he doesn’t someone else will – im grateful to all

Ego? Yup. He flaunts his skills without modesty or grace. Announcing break throughs and at the same time complaining about the attention. Simple youthful immaturity, not unusual. This is a shame because he has brilliant code breaking/cypher skills. Mama never taught him about modesty and humility which is at most challenged at times of exceptional achievement, which Geo surely has achieved. Come on, his mug us on the splash screen of the program. He is in Germany celebrating his success very publicly.
Being briliant, and having great sucsess does not make it ok to be a jerk.
