Foul Ball: MLB Inserts Ads Into At Bat 2010 for iPad

June 02, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

As soon as I tapped my way into MLB At Bat for the Mariners game last night, I couldn’t help but notice an ad on the splash page, and other ads on screen on the Game Day desktop.

Until now this innovative iPad app had been ad free, and at U.S. $14.99 a year, that made sense. Major League Baseball isn’t exactly going to the poor house, with 6.6 billion dollars in revenues last year. MLB has the right to insert ads in the app, but it seems like a small breach of faith to users.There’s more. If you already had the MLB iPhone app, you pay again for the iPad version. And so it goes. A nickel here, a dime there. Read more…

New photos depicted a white back cover, glass digitizer, and midboard of the iPhone 4G have surfaced on PowerBookMedic.

The digitizer resembles the 3G and 3Gs with the exception of a camera hole next to the top speaker. The back case doesn’t resemble anything we’ve seen so far. The photos do confirm these will likely be available in white. Read more…

Video: The iPad Really Is A Magical Device

June 01, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Here’s a little iPad magic for your Memorial Day afternoon — turns out the iPad really is a “magical” device. I’m not sure what app video is being used here, but I think it’s a proprietary one, and probably not something you could use yourself (unless you know how to do some of the great slight-of-hand stuff that this guy is doing). Windows Driver Updates For Charging Your iPad

May 31, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

If you’re one of the many iPad customers having issues with charging, there may be relief in sight. A few popular PC motherboard manufacturers have released new drivers for their mobos that supposedly enable (or help with) iPad charging. If you have an ASUS, Gigabyte, or MSI motherboard, you can try hitting those links, downloading and installing the new drivers, and see if that helps. Unfortunately, this is still a YMMV situation — there are a ton of different factors that go into the kind of power that can come off of a USB port, and even if you have the right software for the right motherboard manufacturer, there’s no guarantee it’ll work exactly right. Netflix Hacked to Run on iPhone

May 30, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

ModMyi forum member Knisitruck has managed to hack Netflix into working on the iPhone.

I needed the mediaplayer frameworks from an iPad [/System/Library/Frameworks/MediaPlayer.framework], thanks to one of your forum members, I was able to get that. Then, it still wouldn’t work. Noticing my winterboard theme was overriding the mediaplayer layout I disabled it, retried the app and viola, it worked! All that had to be changed was a couple lines in the applications info.plist file and the mediaplayer frameworks, along with a manual install/permissions. (My other apps requiring mediaplayer still run fine.) Read more…
