7 inch Apple Tablet is Definitely Announcing in January?

December 23, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

A very connected source has told BGR that they have very solid information about Apple’s upcoming tablet.

It has been widely reported recently that the size of the tablet is 10″, but there was also talk about a 7″ model. Our connect said there is 100% a 7″ Apple tablet, to be announced in January, and whether this is in addition to a 10″ model, they don’t know. Would we bet the farm on this? No, but they’ve been amazingly accurate for us in the past and as usual, Apple rumors seem to get more interesting…

The Financial Times also believes the announcement for the Apple Tablet will come in January. The WSJ points to a March release date.

Further fueling a whirlwind of tablet-related speculation Wednesday, some app developers have reportedly been told by Apple to prepare new versions of their software for a “full screen resolution” demo next month.

Tap Tap Revenge 3 Going Free In The Appstore

December 23, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Monster hit iPhone game “Tap Tap Revenge 3″ is going free today as the company behind it, Tapulous, looks to make more money off the budding iPhone virtual goods market.

“Tap Tap Revenge 3″ launched in October for 99 cents, because at the time, Apple did not allow free apps to include in-app purchasing for virtual goods.

More recently, Apple changed its mind and started allowing free apps to support in-app purchasing, giving app makers a way to generate revenue from free apps. It was only a matter of time before Tapulous made the switch, and now it is.

Tethering For Your Holiday Traveling

December 22, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

I know that many of our readers will be traveling during the holiday season, so I wanted to share a walk-through that will help keep your MacBook of choice connected on the go. This is an article intended for those using iPhones on carriers that do not officially support tethering. TUAW would like to remind you that this is unsupported and is enabled at the user’s own risk. This does require jailbreaking your iPhone, so the unadventurous in the audience may want to pass this up. If you’re not already jailbroken, you can download the necessary software, like blackra1n from George Hotz or Pwnage from the iPhone Dev Team.

NES Emulator Removed From The Appstore

December 22, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

TUAW loves our iPhones and we love our NES games. We’ve been convinced for some time now they are two great tastes that would no doubt taste great together. Tonight I settled in to write a post about how exciting it was that you could play old school public-domain and freeware Nintendo games on your iPhone now, thanks to Jonathan Zdziarski and Nescaline, the app he built to do just that. Ah, Kid Icarus and Ninja Gaiden and Zelda and Mario, all my old friends back again (if I had legal licenses to the ROM images, of course). I was excited to relive my pixelated past, but it was not to be. Jason updated his site this evening saying Nescaline had been pulled: Read more…

Court Orders Microsoft To Stop Selling Office

December 22, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Whoa. A judge for the The U.S. Court of Appeals has just upheld an earlier verdict forbidding Microsoft from selling both Office and Word after January 11th, 2010. This suit, which was filed by i4i, a creator of a XML plugin for Microsoft Office, alleged that Microsoft’s Open XML format, which uses the DOCX and XLSX extensions that have been a part of Office on the Mac since Office 2008, violated i4i’s patented XML handling algorithms. The court ruled in favor of i4i back in May, and Microsoft today lost their appeal, with the judge telling them that they don’t have the right to sell the software as-is.

December 21, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

As the iPhone becomes more and more popular to the world there is no doubt that jailbreaking the iphone has also gotten very popular. As a matter of fact jailbreaking the iphone has gotten so popular it has been featured on many reputable websites such as cnet.com, tuaw.com, and the list goes on. My point is that jailbreaking the iphone is allowing us the users to be able to do more than we could have imagined whether it be making our iphone a wireless router, to allowing us to make voip calls using skype and 3g unrestrictor.

Now that you know where jailbreaking the iphone is going we can speak of cydia and the business aspect of jailbreaking. For you the user jailbreaking is to get all of the goods but for developers it is like a gold mine with a lot of revenue potential. A year ago you had to purchase an application from cydia by downloading an app and paying the developer however he wanted you to pay whether it was through paypal or some other payment type. Apple to Announce New iPhone June 28-July 2?

December 21, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Apple may have already booked the Moscone Center for their annual Worldwide Developer’s Conference. In previous years, the conference has been used to introduce new iPhone models.

AppleInsider has noticed that The Moscone Center Calendar lists a “Corporate Event” from June 28, 2010 through July 2, 2010 in the Moscone West hall. Previous Apple events have been reserved with the same title.

The original iPhone was released on June 29, 2007 and required an exclusive contract with carrier AT&T. It has since been rumored that this contract with AT&T could expire in 2010. If WWDC 2010 does take place on June 28, 2010, Apple might use the event to announce an additional carrier for the US.
