The firm announced its second set of study results for 2009 on Thursday, noting that satisfaction among all phone owners has gone up since just six months ago. Apple in particular has managed to come out even further ahead, even in a category where it is not typically considered to be a frontrunner. Read more…

Is AT&T about to clamp down on heaviest iPhone data users?

October 09, 2009 :: Posted by - Thomas :: Category - News

Data Usage

Yesterday at the CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment 2009 conference, both FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski and AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega gave keynote addresses. While Genachowski stressed the importance of developing “sensible rules of the road” for wireless network neutrality, de la Vega strongly urged that wireless networks must be managed, repeatedly suggesting that net neutrality regulation would let a few heavy data users “crowd out the many” on its 3G data networks. IPhone Tethering Still Unavailable, AT&T Says

Tethering

AT&T subscribers still won’t be able to use their iPhones as wireless modems for their computers, despite the carrier’s reversed position on Internet-phone applications.

Tethering, the process of using an Internet-enabled mobile device, such as a cellphone, to provide access to a laptop or other computer, is part of Apple’s list of features in the iPhone, but AT&T doesn’t support it in the U.S., where it’s the only iPhone seller.

Again GeoHot gives us good news. His program Blackra1n works perfectly well on the 3.1.2 firmware that Apple has just released!

It has already tested the tool on its iPhone firmware 3.1.2 update 3GS original and was able to run the Jailbreak.
Blackra1n still has trouble with the iPod Touch 3G so you probably will not be released by today but it is a matter of few days and not worry.
In response to a user, GeoHot said that you can upgrade your iPhone (3G and 3GS) in the original firmware 3.1.2 and later you can run with her Jailbreak Tool. However it is still not 100% sure so our call is to avoid risks and stupid to wait a bit.

Apple releases iPhone software 3.1.2

3.1.2

Rest in peace, iPhone 3.1. It was just last month that the most recent iPhone update hit the streets and already it’s been superseded by the younger, faster, better-looking iPhone 3.1.2 that Apple released on Thursday. Whither iPhone 3.1.1? I’m afraid we may never know.

iPhone 3.1.2 appears to be focused mainly on providing bug fixes for a few problems introduced in iPhone 3.1. Apple specifically calls out a problem where iPhones may not wake from sleep—it remains to be seen if this is the issue that some users had dubbed “coma mode”. Read more…

Apple Rejects ‘SomeEcards’ iPhone App for Satiric Material

October 08, 2009 :: Posted by - Thomas :: Category - News

SomeEcards

This comes as no surprise: Apple has rejected an iPhone app submitted by SomeEcards, a website that hosts egregiously satiric e-cards.

In its rejection letter, Apple said it could not accept the SomeEcards app because it “contains objectionable content and content that ridicules public figures.”

What’s actually surprising is that the screenshots Apple attached with the rejection letter, pointing out which content was objectionable, were all related to poking fun at famous people, including Adolf Hitler.
