Apple Tablet Runs iPhone OS

August 28, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

I was browsing the web and I find a video on youtube, Jason Calacanis is talking about Apple and its close/tight grip on the iPhone. Anyhow all that talk isn’t important but  I believe he may have just confirmed that the Apple Tablet does exist and that it runs iPhone OS. During the video around the 3:00 min mark he says and I quote:

” I had a developer come up to me at the digi day apps conference on Wednesday and said to me I work on the apple platform, the new tablet blah blah blah thats coming out, it runs iPhone OS”

August 28, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Apple’s next-generation iPods

- including the iPod touch, nano and classic – will carry 3.2 megapixel cameras supplied by Taiwan’s, OmniVision.

As 9to5Mac reported last week, the new generation iPods are expected to be introduced at an Apple special event on September 9

Reports this morning claim OmniVision has secured CMOS image sensor (CIS) orders for the upcoming products. It will supply “

3.2-megapixel CIS products

for the new iPod nano, iPod classic and iPod touch models which will be launched in September,”* sources claim.

The company is one of the 3.2-megapixel CIS suppliers for the iPhone 3GS and is expected to ship 18 million CIS products to Apple per quarter.

Apple is also expected to introduce a new version of iTunes, equipped with social networking features including the capacity to depatch songs played to Facebook, iLike and Last.fm. The new software is also expected to support direct import of Digital Copy movies from Blu-ray discs. Some speculate on updates to the Apple TV at the event.

iPhone and Qik go live for New Mexico reporter

August 27, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Albuquerque TV Reporter Jeremy Jojola recently used a jailbroken iPhone and Qik [iTunes link] to broadcast a story live for KOB-TV.

It’s a far cry from the big trucks with microwave antennas and satellite dishes that are usually seen where news stories are broadcast.

The audio and video quality isn’t perfect, but it shows how fast the technology is moving. Jeremy told me he used the AT&T 3G network for the connection.

We’ve already reported on the Qik app which was recently updated to allow uploading of video using the 3G network, but so far, the live capability has been nixed by Apple/AT&T. The only way to get the full benefit of live streaming is by jailbreaking the iPhone.

Qik runs on a huge variety of other smartphones with full live capability, even on the AT&T network.

If you’d like to see Jeremy’s story, it’s available by clicking the Read More link below. The actual story is about iPhone developers who live in the area. Here’s Jeremy’s blog with some more info.

Vampires Live from the iPhone AppStore is currently number 23 on the AppStore free applications list. A online game where you assume the role of a vampire, build your clan and gain experience.

Version tested: 1.5 (current as of writing)

Firstly I would like to say, “Immediately delete & report this application to Apple, then remove & delete all applications by Storm8 LLC.”

Now that is out of the way, lets continue. This application has so many privacy issues and violations that I have already reported it to Apple and will create a permanent “Hall of Shame”.

During use, the application tracks and reports:
- your mobile phone number (yes, you read that right)
- application version, number
- unique ID of your iPhone
- points (if applicable)
- iPhone model
- firmware versio

Sirius Introduces ‘XM SkyDock’ Satellite Radio Adapter For iPhone

August 27, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Digital Daily reports that Sirius XM announced at a media event today the launch of XM SkyDock, an accessory that will allow iPhone and iPod touch users to receive live XM and “The Best of Sirius” satellite radio in their vehicles. Scheduled to launch in the fall at suggested price of $119.99, the XM SkyDock utilizes a vehicle’s cigarette lighter power port to mount and power the device and iPhone or iPod touch.

Dubbed SkyDock, the $119.99 peripheral uses iPhone OS 3’s support for third-party hardware to transform Apple (AAPL) handsets into full-fledged satellite radios. Designed to run off a car’s cigarette power adapter, the SkyDock charges your iPhone while you listen to it and supports the ability to tag songs for download from iTunes. Better yet, it gives users access to all XM and “The Best of SIRIUS” channels, even those the company infamously excludes from its online feed, like Howard Stern, MLB Play-by-Play and NFL Play-by-Play.

Sirius XM’s press release also notes several other features, including iTunes tagging of songs, sports and stock tickers, as well as various alerts for sports and music news.

Listeners can also tag songs they hear on XM’s music channels for Read more…

In version 1.0, Bosspaper has some added features such as a sequential wallpaper rotation option. Another one of Bosspaper’s nifty features is the ability to choose images from any of your photo folders on your iPhone. Originally Read more…

August 26, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

mmsview testbuild1

It looks like an upcoming update to iRealSMS is going to be a great one. Reznor which is the publicist/tester for iRealSMS says he and the iReal team have been working very hard on this new update. One good thing is that the whole gui of iReal is being completely re-done, as if the gui we have right now isn’t good the next one will look a lot more professional like the apple stock sms gui and of course we will get more special features that iRealSMS always seems to have added. Another good thing that was said is that the iReal team is getting rid of the old code for the app and completely rewriting it so in turn it will run smooth and snappy Read more…
