Musclenerd tweeted earlier that he and Planetbeing are one step closer to a baseband unlock for the iphone 4. As you can tell from the image above, they have successfully injected custom code into the baseband which is a significant step to the unlock. Now all we need is the iPhone 4 jailbreak.

Yesterday, we told you that MuscleNerd and PlanetBeing are cooking a baseband unlock for iPhone 4, and today they announced they got the baseband bootrom. All they have to do right now is to compare it with the one on 3G/3Gs and check for bug fixes and possible exploits.

Remember a while back when I posted about comex working on a flash implementation for i-devices. He has announced that he has ported Android’s Adobe’s flash runtime to the iPad. He calls the program frash which can run flash natively in mobile safari. As of right now this only works on the iPad but 3Gs and iPhone 4 support is coming later down the road. FaceTime supports iOS URL schemes, enabling users to initiate a call by clicking on a hyperlink. iPhone 3GS users can see and click the links but they don’t work, not even for audio-only calls. Yet.

Reader Felipe Baez discovered facetime:// URL scheme support while examining how FaceTime works. iOS began supporting URL schemes a couple years ago; the feature enables webpage links or apps to launch other apps on the phone.
