iOS 4.1 Beta Doesn’t Fix iPhone 4 Antenna Issues

July 14, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

It seems that the new iOS 4.1 software update is not fixing any issues with signal loss on the iPhone 4 surprisingly. Obviously Apple can’t fix the hardware problem the iphone 4 antenna is causing but they can fix the way the signal bars are displayed and how signal strength is calculated. Read more…

Jailbreakers and Unlockers Save Your ShSh’s Asap

July 14, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Now that Apple has released the 4.1 iOS beta you should all know to back up our shsh’s locally and on sauriks server by using a program called TinyUmbrella. Saving your shsh’s is a back up plan just in case you upgrade to Apple’s latest firmware that isn’t jailbreakable, the shsh’s allow you to sign your own firmware and downgrade to a jailbreakable firmware. Lets not get too complicated just do the following:

  • Visit: http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/
  • On the right you’ll see quick links
  • Download the program for your OS
  • Have your i-device connected, run program and click save my shsh
  • To be more cautious click advanced options and by location choose Apple and save shsh locally, now you have two backups
  • Now chill out and go on about your day.

Apple Releases iOS 4.1 Beta, Jailbreakers Beware

July 14, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Looks like the long awaited update we’ve been waiting for is finally available to devs. No details about any new features or fixes are available at this time. Lets just hope this firmware fixes the proximity sensor and bluetooth issues people are having with their iphone 4′s along with the more dreaded antenna fix (doubt it as its not software related). As always jailbreakers and unlockers stay away from this update until we get more details and info from the dev team.

Could Apple Be Doing a Silent iPhone 4 Recall

July 13, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Gizmodo has heard from an iPhone 4 customer who received a replacement handset from Apple with noticeably different hardware.

I’ve been following all of the iPhone 4 stuff since I got mine the day before release. I was able to replicate the signal issue. I also had the proximity sensor issue, causing inadvertent mute button pushing. There were a few other software issues I was experiencing so I consulted Apple at the Fifth Avenue store in New York. July 13, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

A dev team member that goes by the name of planetbeing has tweeted that he now has a fully functional unlocked iphone 4. He and Musclenerd have been working hard to unlock the iphone 4 the past couple of weeks and can finally take a break. It seems that planetbeing found a new clever way to unlock the iphone 4 instead of using the same old method their old unlock named ultrasn0w uses as muscelnerd’s tweet follows:

Geohot Leaving The iPhone Jailbreak Scene??

July 12, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

It seems that Geohot has finally had enough with all the negative comments and made his blog private. The blog iphonejtag.blogspot.com/ he has used for a few years now to announce iphone jailbreaks and progress updates shows a login page along with an invite only readers message.

Its kind of sad to see him so upset and lose hope in the community, he is a legend in the scene and I sure do hope to see him around in the future. Until then he has passed on the torch for jailbreak news and updates to a good friend of his named Mike Cohen as his tweet follows: @mikecohenn

Update:

It seems he has just also protected his tweets from the public eye. Geohot Twitter

Giveaway: Micro Sim Adapters

July 12, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Today I received my MicroSim Adapter so that I could easily use my iphone 4′s micro sim in my old iPhone 3gs. I’m sure you’ve all seen tutorials on how to make your own custom adapters from plastic cards but that takes patience and could also be dangerous if you accidentally miss a cut. I myself actually made a custom one but it did not go very well and got stuck in my 3gs Read more…
