What happens if you are unsatisfied with the original plastic shell on your iPhone? Well, you check out some concepts, fire up CAD, start designing, take some huge risks, and you end up with this stunning titanium iPhone.Basically I designed a new back cover for the 3GS. I had the original cover measured digitally, and I then started to draw the new cover in CAD. It’s made out of a special titanium alloy that is RF transparent. I had tried aluminum but that was a complete disaster.

iPhone Beats Nexus One in 3D Frame Rate Test

February 15, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

A test done by the UK mobile games house Distinctive Developments shows that the iPhone has much better 3D rendering capability than the Google/HTC Nexus One. As described by Engadget, the test showed that the iPhone was able to sustain a frame rate almost one and a half times faster despite the Google phone having a more powerful 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU. The main difference appears to be the lack of optimized code that takes advantage of the ARM processor core. Read more…

Dev Team Releases PwnageTool 3.1.5

February 07, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

The iPhone Dev-Team has released PwnageTool 3.1.5 for Mac OS X which lets some iPhones upgrade safely to the 3.1.3 firmware.

Using PwnageTool to upgrade will preserve your jailbreak and ultrasn0w unlock. If you are using the blacksn0w unlock at baseband 05.11.07 you will need to stay at 3.1.2.

iPhone 3GS users (regardless of unlock) should stay away from this and all 3.1.3 jailbreak tools unless you know you have your “SHSH hashes” backed up via Cydia. That’s because if you make a mistake you may find yourself stuck at official 3.1.3 with no way to jailbreak or come back down to 3.1.2 to jailbreak. Read more…

Geohot: “iPhone OS 3.1.3 Jailbreak Is Easy”

February 04, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Geohot has tweeted saying that the jailbreak is easy but only helps those dumb enough to upgrade.

I hear rumors going around that the 3.1.3 jailbreak is hard. It isn’t. But the only people it helps are those dumb enough to upgrade. Sorry.

These comments indicate that it’s unlikely the BlackRa1n jailbreak will be upgraded to support the new firmware.

iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G users – please be very careful you do not upgrade. Most other users can still jailbreak using RedSn0w. See here for more information.
