Jon Atherton, the developer behind Wobble iBoobs, has just told TechCrunch that he received an email from Apple stating his application was being removed from the App Store because of a new policy change: “We [Apple] have decided to remove any overtly sexual content from the App Store.”

iTunes Preview Now Lets You Browse the App Store

Apple has updated iTunes Preview and it now allows you to browse App Store categories from your browser.

Apple has been slowly improving iTunes Preview since its launch this past November. In January the site was updated to provide preview clips of songs. Earlier this month Apple added App Previews.

Apple Ups App Store over-the-air Download Limits

Although Apple’s just-released iTunes Connect guide for App Store developers (version 5.3) reminds them that over-the-air downloads for app purchases are still limited to 10MB, users are reporting that Apple may have quietly changed this policy. As the screen shot here (sourced from Italian website AllMobileWorld) shows, the standard 10MB complaint appears to be updated to a 20MB limit. Read more…

“Banned” might not be the right word, but that’s what user serif_hashim is saying.

He says he’s been denied access to the App Store from their iPhones by Apple. When sherif_hashim tried to connect, he was greeted with the image at right, which he explained via Twitter:

It sounds like the premise for a new reality show — a developer writes an iPhone app in one week while the world watches.

That’s exactly what Sahil Lavingia is planning to do starting on Sunday, February 7th. Lavingia is the developer behind Color Stream and the Twizzle Twitter client [iTunes Links], and he’ll be posting updates to keep us all apprised of his progress at his One Week App blog.

It had to happen. Somebody had to be the first to announce software for a still-nonexistent piece of hardware.

A lot of us in the business of reporting Apple news and rumors were waiting for the shoe to drop on tablet-related software announcements. Sure enough, developer Ben Gottlieb has taken the bold step of announcing an “iPad” (please let that not be the name…) app in development.

Gottlieb’s Stand Alone, Inc. announced today that they’re working on a larger version of their popular Crosswords iPhone app. As Gottlieb mentioned, “The main constraint in developing a Crossword app for mobile devices has been the distinct lack of screen real estate. We have been anticipating the Apple tablet as the greatest piece of hardware for App developers since iPhone itself, and Crosswords will be even better on the new device.” Read more…
