With all deference to the Violent Femmes, there’s nothing upbeat about the cases of overheating that some iPad users are facing in the early days with the device. We’ve heard directly from two readers about the dreaded ‘iPad needs to cool down before you can use it’ message; Henry in Colorado and John in Tampa Bay both reported that their units went into thermal standby after being used outside. John noted that his iPad was in the (black, heat-collecting) Apple case… perhaps there’s a market for reflective or liquid-cooled models. Read more…

Apple is sending out invites “for a sneak peek of the next generation of iPhone OS software” on April 8 at 10AM Pacific.
It’s been rumored that the new OS will support Expose-like multi-tasking…
Those familiar with the design of iPhone 4.0 said that the user interface will resemble Apple’s desktop Expose feature, in that a key combination — reportedly hitting the Home button twice — will trigger an expose-like interface that brings up a series of icons representing the currently running apps, allowing users to quickly select the one they want to switch to directly. When a selection is made, the iPhone OS zooms out of the Expose task manager and transitions to that app.

Engadget is reporting that the next-generation iPhone would be announced on June 22nd (a Tuesday, naturally) and would be dubbed the iPhone HD (a name that has been tossed around before). Read more…

Geo Hot’s Response : “Welcome to proper challenge response, guess someone at Apple finally read a book on security. At least it’s not in the bootroms yet.”
The firmwareumbrella published in his blog that he found a new key named APTicket that might be a means for Apple to stop us jailbreakers from restoring to versions of firmwares that are not signed anymore.
This would mean Apple would get complete control over what you restore and when you restore it. While jailbroken devices are able to accept custom firmwares, the new bootroom 3gs and the ipt3g and MC can’t Read more…
