The person who found and sold the Apple iPhone prototype has been identified as Brian J. Hogan, a 21 year old resident of Redwood City, California, according to Wired.com.
Hogan says he regrets not doing more to return the device to its owner, according to a statement provided by his attorney. Although he was paid by tech site Gizmodo, he believed the payment was for allowing the site exclusive access to review the phone. Read more…

Virginia Campbell, a 99-year-old woman from Lake Oswego, has finally bought her first computer — an Apple iPad. “It’s changed her life,” one of her daughters told OregonLive.com. Virginia has been an avid reader most of her life, but she suffers from glaucoma, making reading increasingly difficult.
Because of the iPad’s ability to adjust the brightness of the page and to increase the font by simply tapping, Virginia has been able to take up her beloved past-time again. Not only is she reading again, she’s writing again too. So far she has composed twelve limericks on her iPad, including this little ditty: Read more…

Thieves cut a hole in the roof and rappelled down into a Best Buy, without touching the ground, to steal $26,000 worth of Apple notebook computers, reports NJ.com.
Amazingly the bandits performed the whole heist without setting off alarms or being caught on tape.
On top of the building, they used a saw to cut through several inches of rubber and insulation, then sliced a 3-foot-wide square in the metal roof. Read more…

Earlier this week, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer gave the keynote address to the Nashville Technology Council, which was held at Trevecca Nazarene University (TNU) in Nashville, TN. Steve, who is on a multi-city tour to promote Microsoft, joined other prominent technology professionals like Abbie Lundberg, editor-in-chief of CIO Magazine.
After the speeches were done, Steve did a meet-and-greet with TNU Students to answer brief questions, sign autographs and so on. One student asked for Steve’s autograph — on a MacBook Pro.
To his credit, Steve handled the awkward moment well (as another student’s camera rolled), writing “Need a new one? Steve Ballmer” smack-dab over the laptop’s logo. Kudos to Steve for his cool-headed response (we can’t imagine what Steve Jobs would do if asked to sign a Dell) and for that student with the nerve to pull such a stunt.

The Apple Magic Mouse drivers have been hacked to enable multi-touch support on Windows 7, according to uneasysilence.com.
Thanks to a little hackery from Apple’s Bluetooth Update the Magic Mouses driver was extracted via WinRar resulting in a 32bit version and a 64bit version that you can install on any ordinary Windows PC that will enable all the scrolling ‘magic’ of the Magic Mouse.
You can download the 32-bit drivers here and the 64-bit drivers here
