Apple is still negotiating with media companies for a price cut on TV show downloads for the iPad, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Apple also hoped to work closely with newspaper, magazines and textbook publishers on new ways to digitally present print content on the iPad, but has for now put the effort on backburner in favor of focusing on other content, said one of those people. Read more…

Apple Markets Tablet to Australian Media Companies

October 27, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Apple is reportedly in discussions with Australian media companies over including their content on the rumored tablet device.

The Sydney Morning Herald says the tablet is tipped to be a larger version of the iPhone. It is small enough to carry in a handbag but too big to fit in a pocket. It will have a touch screen and be targeted at users who mainly want to surf the web, read books and newspapers or watch movies.

Supposedly Apple sent tablet specifications to the media companies in an effort to figure out if they would be interested in delivering their content on such a platform. None would speak about the device on the record.

Apple reportedly did the same to US companies such as the New York Times last month.

The creators of Urban Rivals, an app that is based on a virtual trading card game, have let us know that they too plan to go the free-with-microtransactions model as soon as their app is released, and Read more…

Porn App

And here comes the ban of the apparently very popular iPhone porn app, while not too unexpected, the reason behind it took a while to completely come out.

Thursday saw the first softcore porn app arrive for the iPhone, only to disappear hours later. Many, including myself, thought Apple had approved and then banned the app, but a note on the developer’s Web site indicated that he asked for the app to be removed.

The developer’s note read:

“The Hottest Girls app is temporarily sold out. The server usage is extremely high because of the popularity of this app. Thus, by not distributing the app, we can prevent our servers from crashing. Customer satisfaction is more important to us than profits. Those who already have the app will still be able to use our app. To answer the question on everyone’s mind: Yes, the topless images will still be there when it is sold again.”
