December 30, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

FOXNews.com claims to have received confirmation from a “source inside Apple” that the company will in fact be holding a media event on January 26th in San Francisco. According to the source, the “big” event will focus on the “mobility space”, suggesting an iPhone, iPod touch, or, as many people expect, tablet announcement.

Following a Financial Times report that Apple has scheduled a special media event for January 26th in San Francisco, I’ve spoken to a source inside Apple who confirmed a “big” event for January.

iPhone To Get Built-In VNC Remote Capabilities To Control Your Computer

December 16, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Before you get your panties in a bunch, yes, this functionality has been available to us for some time. I’ve been using Jaadu VNC for awhile which works pretty good. Can be a little time consuming, but the ability to control your PC from anywhere is great feature for iPhone users. There are of course a number of other apps that do similar functions, however it appears as thoughApple is looking to make this a feature that is built into the iPhone.

Yesterday the USPTO published a unique granted patent, filed on behalf of Apple, that provides insight into the Apple’s potential plans. The patent is titled “Remote control of electronic devices” and the goes on to say that a device is in the works that would let you use your mobile device to remotely control your home computer. Use Your iPhone as a Proximity Key to Lock/Unlock Your Mac

December 05, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Kentucky-based The M.H.A. released their Mac-based security program Airlock on Tuesday. Airlock unlocks your Mac when you approach it, based on the proximity of the Bluetooth transceiver on youriPhone (or later-gen iPod touch). The Mac will lock when your device leaves the preset range, but Airlock also accepts your account password as backup, in case the device is unavailable or its battery dies: since you’ll be leaving Bluetooth turned on all the time, the battery will drain even faster than normal.

Apple contacted The New York Times to discuss getting the newspaper content on the upcoming Apple Tablet. Other rumors suggest Apple wants to bring interactive comics to the tablet computer. Apple Markets Tablet to Australian Media Companies

October 27, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Apple is reportedly in discussions with Australian media companies over including their content on the rumored tablet device.

The Sydney Morning Herald says the tablet is tipped to be a larger version of the iPhone. It is small enough to carry in a handbag but too big to fit in a pocket. It will have a touch screen and be targeted at users who mainly want to surf the web, read books and newspapers or watch movies.

Supposedly Apple sent tablet specifications to the media companies in an effort to figure out if they would be interested in delivering their content on such a platform. None would speak about the device on the record.

Apple reportedly did the same to US companies such as the New York Times last month.

Motorola Droid, The iPhone’s New Competitor

October 20, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

We absolutely nailed this puppy to the wall over and over and over again, so it’s only fitting we’d be doing the first actual unveiling, right? We’re not going to get too in-depth though, that will come at a later time. Here are some brief thoughts before the photos:

* It’s running Android 2.0. Duh.
* It’s thin. Just slightly thicker than an iPhone 3GS and the thinnest QWERTY-slider we’ve ever seen.
* It is the fastest Android device we’ve ever used. (It’s running a TI OMAP3430 processor)
* The feel of the device is very reminiscent of the OQO 02 model computer. Just smaller. It’s metal with a non-spring-assisted slide, very sturdy, and half soft-touch plastic. Read more…

Green Poison

The chroniv dev team posted some progress update on the ipod touch 3G jailbreak. Below is what they had to say:

For those that are following our twitter, you probably already know this, but for all the others I thought I would post an “official” progress update here. Again, some of this is old news to some people.

First of all, we have tested the greenpois0n exploit on the iPod touch 3G, and it works still :)

Just to have a little bit of fun and to show something to prove that it is actually executing our code and not just crashing, I wrote a teeny payload that Read more…
