Jon Atherton, the developer behind Wobble iBoobs, has just told TechCrunch that he received an email from Apple stating his application was being removed from the App Store because of a new policy change: “We [Apple] have decided to remove any overtly sexual content from the App Store.”

Tap Tap Revenge 3 Going Free In The Appstore

Monster hit iPhone game “Tap Tap Revenge 3″ is going free today as the company behind it, Tapulous, looks to make more money off the budding iPhone virtual goods market.

“Tap Tap Revenge 3″ launched in October for 99 cents, because at the time, Apple did not allow free apps to include in-app purchasing for virtual goods.

More recently, Apple changed its mind and started allowing free apps to support in-app purchasing, giving app makers a way to generate revenue from free apps. It was only a matter of time before Tapulous made the switch, and now it is.

Apple Set to Pass 100K Available iPhone Apps Milestone

Apple has approved more than 100,000 applications in its App Store, according to latest figures from App Shopper, an industry tracking firm. That number of approved apps dwarfs the number of apps offered by mobile app store competitors Android Marketplace, Windows Mobile Marketplace, BlackBerry App World, and Nokia’s Ovi Store. Apple’s next closest competitor, Google’s Android Marketplace, offers a relative pittance of 10,000 mobile apps, according to App Shopper. BlackBerry App World hosts 3040 apps.

App Shopper released data Tuesday stating that Apple has approved 101,887 apps, with 93,118 actually available to download or purchase as of October 28. Apple is expected to announce the milestone officially when the actual number of applications available in the store reaches 100,000.

Devs Quickly Taking Advantage Of Free Apps In App Purchases

It was just yesterday that Apple announced they would allow free apps to enable in-app purchases, and developers are already jumping on the “get the app for free, buy the content later” business model as quickly as they can. ngmoco came out swinging, as Touch Arcade reports, with both a free intro version of Rolando 2 out for purchase, with later chapters of the game as add-ons. They’ve also been working on a shooter called Eliminate, and we’re now told that title will be free as well, with extra content to buy later.
