AT&T has said that the iPad’s upcoming $30/month unlimited plan will not be subject to the usual “5GB soft cap”, according to GearLog.

With all deference to the Violent Femmes, there’s nothing upbeat about the cases of overheating that some iPad users are facing in the early days with the device. We’ve heard directly from two readers about the dreaded ‘iPad needs to cool down before you can use it’ message; Henry in Colorado and John in Tampa Bay both reported that their units went into thermal standby after being used outside. Video: Pc Mag Apple iPad Stress Test

PC World stress tests show the iPad can be permanently damaged with as little as one or two drops.

While this isn’t surprising given its larger screen. It is important to remember that your iPad needs a protective case. The iPhone seems to be a lot more durable. Mine has taken a few serious drops without any issue; however, its clear the iPad wouldn’t have survived the same experience.

Video: iPad In-Dash Stereo

Soundman Car Audio has posted a video showing the installation of the iPad into a car dash.

Some other ideas I had include using a bluetooth receiver for the audio so the iPad can be moved around inside the car or even removing the casing of the iPad entirely. You could then fabricate a custom enclosure which would mount the iPad seamlessly into your dash.

References to two new iPhones, a new iPod, and the next iPad have reportedly been found in the iPad filesystem.

A BoyGeniusReport source found the following references while digging inside the new device.
● iPhone3,2
● iPhone3,3
● iPod4,1
● iProd2,1

The first two, iPhones, the second is an iPod touch, and the last? A major revision to the Apple iPad. As if things couldn’t get more exciting…
