While there are many different third party iPhone and iPod Touch App Stores like Cydia around, but you have to be jailbroken, which even though has gone 100% legal isn’t something everyone will do. OpenAppMkt is a new web-based third-party app store for all iOS based devices which consists of apps, completely written in HTML format. OpenAppMkt runs in browser and installation of apps simply require a simple tap on: “add to home” button.

About 2 months ago we told you about whited00r, a project that brings custom jailbreaking tools, which we can use to create custom 3.1.3 firmwares that will replicate iOS 4. The initial idea was to create a 3.1.3 FW that replicates iOS 4 for iPhone 2G And iPod Touch 1G  because Apple stopped updating those devices.

New day, new app in Cydia: Notified. Notified app adds an Android like notification system to your iPhone, but in true Apple style:

To everyone that hasn’t read about this yet, Bestbuy is giving away a free invisibleShield 4Fix to iphone 4 owners who purchased their iphone 4′s at Bestbuy. Earlier reports were stating free shields for all iphone 4 owners but that was false. It still wouldn’t hurt going to your local Bestbuy and telling them you bought your iphone 4 there even if you didn’t. If they ask for proof, your only human and lost the receipt.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple is “looking into” reports of iOS 4′s poor performance on the iPhone 3G. Many iPhone 3G users have noted generally slow performance and glitches after installing iOS 4 that have rendered their devices nearly unusable. An Apple spokesperson told the Journal that Apple is aware of the reports and investigating solutions. Read more…

Bell Canada has announced a new iPhone data plan just prior to the release of the iPhone 4. The plan offers customers 6GB for $30/month. It also has a $10 iPad sharing option which lets you share your data between the two devices.

Customers will have until September 30th to signup. Bell also notes that tethering is allowed and unlimited Wi-Fi at Starbucks is included (although everyone gets this now).

It’s known that some iPhone 4 users are experiencing issues with its proximity sensor, including myself. People find themselves inadvertently ending and muting calls, punching in keys, and sending FaceTime requests. Jobs and company promised a fix to this, and it seems iOS 4.1 might just be the magical savior of the proximity sensor. This is based on non-scientific tests on two iPhone 4s as well as reader submissions.
