Two Super Simple DIY Hacks For The iPhone

January 14, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

I’ve been reading the Unplggd blog from Apartment Therapy a lot lately, because I recently moved into a new place and am trying to fill it up with cool stuff. And someone over there must be an iPhone fan, because I’ve seen not one but two great and simple tricks for the iPhone there recently. The first is the most billiant thing I’ve ever seen — if you happen to be listening to music or a conference call through the speaker on your iPhone and need it a little louder, you can just find a pint-size glass, put the iPhone in there, and voila, simple iPhone echo chamber. I’m surprised at both how easy this is and how well it works, but it does. Very impressive.

Citing a close contact within Apple, Boy Genius Report on Wednesday issued a report with alleged new details and specifics on Apple’s 10-inch touchscreen device. The source said the device has an internal model number of K48AP and sports an “incredibly fast” ARM-based processor.

Cydia App: Resupported Enables iPhone Video On Unsupported Cables

January 08, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Resupported allows you to display iPhone video out using unsupported video cables.

—–
There are plenty of accessories on the market that allow you to play video out with iPods, but when plugged into the iPhone, display “This accessory is unsupported by iPhone”, and refuse to play video out. Or at least used to.

Resupported is a safe and cheap alternative to paying the Apple tax. It enables video out through many unsupported AV cables and devices, and it does not modify system files!
—–

Here’s a simple check to see if your cord is likely to be supported:
-Does it plug into the dock connector?
-Will audio play through it when connected to your device?
-Does it have a video output or a screen?

Resupported is available from the Cydia Store for $1.99

Apple Tablet To Support Multiple Wireless Carriers?

January 06, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

With their upcoming tablet, Apple may be offering the flexibility that many prospective U.S. iPhone owners have wished for: carrier independence. According to a Broadpoint AmTech analyst, Apple will be offering 3G wireless data networking on their Tablet with multiple providers with Verizon support a “certainty”.

This would mean that customers will be able to choose from a number of mobile providers for their Tablet’s data service when not near a Wi-Fi hotspot. This would allow Tablet users to browse the web, check their email, and more wherever there was 3G service. Such connectivity is taken for granted on mobile phones such as the iPhone, but is increasingly expected for other mobile devices. Read more…

As Apple and Verizon are rumored to be in negotiations for a summer 2010 CDMA iPhone launch, the nation’s largest wireless carrier and the handset maker are believed to be at odds over pricing.

In a new note to investors Tuesday morning, Maynard J. Um of UBS Investment Research said that a new iPhone is expected to launch in mid-2010. Whether that phone would be available for Verizon’s CDMA network remains to be seen.
