James Cameron: Watching films on an iPhone is “dumb”

At a press conference where he spoke about the April release of the Blu-ray edition of his latest film, James Cameron said watching Avatar on the iPhone would be “dumb.” More specifically he said, “I don’t feel that I’m making movies for iPhones. If someone wants to watch it on an iPhone, I’m not going to stop them, especially if they’re paying for it, but I don’t recommend it. I think it’s dumb, when you have characters that are so small in the frame that they’re not visible.” Read more…

Stanford Students Addicted To Their iPhones

Years ago, when the Blackberry started gaining traction among business users, people found themselves using the device so much that the nickname “Crackberry” was invented to describe how addicting the device was. According to a recent survey of 200 Stanford University students, the iPhone is just as addictive as the Blackberry, if not more so. Nearly a third of Stanford students surveyed worried about becoming addicted to their iPhones, while more than a third had heard complaints they were using the devices too much. Read more…

Is The iPhone Clinically Addictive??

The Ivy League brain-trust from Stanford University is trying to tell us something we already know, but with the backing of a formal survey to provide additional credibility. It turns out the iPhone is actually quite “habit forming.”

Nearly one-third of the two-hundred Stanford University undergraduates polled for this survey expressed fears that their iPhone is not only addictive, but that they could already be clinically addicted to their beloved smartphone. The latest, by Etsy shop owner and artist “PlayingGrownUp,” is the cool iPhone Chalkboard (US$25.00 plus shipping), The chalkboard is hand cut and painted to look just like the iPhones that Mom and Dad use. Get Cheap Insurance for Your iPhone Using WHG

An iPhone can be an expensive investment, and given that its users generally carry their phones everywhere, damage from dropping, stepping on, running over and flushing iPhones are more common than warranty-related problems. And no warranty can protect you from theft. As a result many users have looked for third party insurance to try and protect themselves from loss.

Worth Avenue Group garnered a lot of attention at this year’s MacWorld with their booth featuring a man methodically smashing iPhones with a hammer. According to Chris Holt at Macworld.com, they claim to cover the iPhone comprehensively, whether it has been dropped, stolen, or submerged in water or beer. Now supports tethering on 3.1+ and all iPhones (including 2G/3G/3GS)! Create a WiFi HotSpot with a press of a finger! Wherever you are – you can connect your laptop or other mobile device to your iPhone easily! You can also use MyWi to enable default USB/Bluetooth Tethering on 3.1! This is the no rock extensions version of mywi so that means no installing rock which causes crashes if installed along with cydia and what not.

Notes: Make sure and uninstall pdanet or mywi if already installed. If your also having problems with being asked to authenticate you can do the following

Run WinSCP, PuTTY trough it or use mobile terminal and log in as root and type in the flowing command:
/private/var/stash/Applications.TSJFm8/MyWi.app/licgen

  • After downloading rename the deb to mywi.deb
  • Copy it to var/mobile on your iphone and install using ifile or do the following
  • Open Mobile terminal
  • Type in su (press return)
  • Type in alpine (press return)
  • Type in dpkg -i mywi.deb (press return)
  • Reboot or Respring and enjoy
