Again GeoHot gives us good news. His program Blackra1n works perfectly well on the 3.1.2 firmware that Apple has just released!

It has already tested the tool on its iPhone firmware 3.1.2 update 3GS original and was able to run the Jailbreak.
Blackra1n still has trouble with the iPod Touch 3G so you probably will not be released by today but it is a matter of few days and not worry.
In response to a user, GeoHot said that you can upgrade your iPhone (3G and 3GS) in the original firmware 3.1.2 and later you can run with her Jailbreak Tool. However it is still not 100% sure so our call is to avoid risks and stupid to wait a bit.

A Little Jailbreak Drama

October 07, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

The posting of the usb_control_msg(0×21, 2) Exploit by Chronic Dev to the iPhoneWiki caused a little bit of upset today with GeoHot threatening to stop work on the exploit.

“OMG CHRONIC, WHY DID YOU POST THE EXPLOIT? SHIT LIKE THAT MAKES ME NOT WANT TO WORK ANYMORE”

“i discovered that exploit first, and that was really a low blow to try and take credit. have fun with greenpois0n, i am not releasing”

Chronic Dev has since posted the full story on his blog to explain things.

We wanted to make this perfect and bug-free, so it was taking awhile. Soon, people started commenting and emailing me complaints about it taking so long. I can handle this. Then, I start getting ppl threatening to file a dispute with PayPal to get a refund. Read more…

Smartscreen

September 24, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Today MediaPhone announced ‘SmartScreen’ an application for the iPhone and iPod touch that will allow informational widgets to be placed and used on the lock screen.
Widgets are similar to those offered by Apple’s ‘dashboard’ and they follow familiar look and feel.
The widgets can be rearranged on the lock screen by using a ‘tap and hold to move’ action that is often used by to iPhone users (when moving icons around the home screen).
The application will work on all models of iPhone and iPod touch that run OS 3.x, unfortunately due to the nature of the product it will not be available for purchase in the Apple AppStore but will be sold to customers of jailbroken phones via alternate means.
A SmartScreen SDK will be available to everyone in November 2009 but widget developers are being selected to participate in a Beta programme, if you feel you could participate and would like to produce widgets, please email and we will consider you early access to the programme.

The Reason New iPod Touch Didn’t Get A Camera

ipod-touch-leak-reveal-rm-eng

Everyone, including Steve Jobs, has very reasonable sounding theories as to why the third gen iPod touch camera was removed. Rather than rehash it again, however, we thought we’d let our minds wonder into parody, and consider what might have happened in a world only slightly more cartoonish than ours…

Steve Jobs, fresh from his recent leave of absence, comes crashing back into Apple’s Cupertino campus, and after fixing the typography on the iPhone 3G S 3GS, tweaking some pixels on the Snow Leopard UI, and spending time meditating deep in the iTablet vault, he heads over to the scorched closet that used to be reserved for iPhone A2DP testing…

“64GB a go?” he demands. “Good”

“Is it thinner?” grumble. “Next year…”

“What about those ultra-tiny auto-focus 3 megapixel Read more…

Green Poison
The Chronic Dev Team is currently working on a new project called “GreenPois0n” that will unlock and Jailbreak the iPod Touch 3G. Apparently the new device is still vulnerable and they have already managed to crash iBoot which is a good sign.

Currently there are no other updates other than this video uploaded by them to Qik:
