Patent suit takes aim at Apple’s iTunes, MobileMe, QuickTime

Apple and 17 other companies were named in a new lawsuit filed this week over two patents related to accessing computer software from remote systems.

BetaNet has targeted Apple, along with Microsoft, IBM, Adobe, Kodak and others, over alleged infringement of two patents. U.S. Patent No. 5,222,134, awarded in 1993, is entitled “Secure System for Activating Personal Computer Software at Remote Locations,” while No. 5,103,476, of 1992, has the name “Secure System for Activating Personal Computer Software at Remote Locations.”

Geo Hot Explains The Argument Between Himself and Chronic

If you hadn’t heard yet, Geo Hot became a little disturbed when chronic posted the exploit he is going to use to to make a new jailbreak program that will jailbreak them all on their wiki. He even threatened to stop making his program but in the end Chronic and George both explained their opinions and what was going on and below is what he had to say about it.

” Minor setback today, when Chronic revealed the exploit that this will use. For apparently no purpose except to save face in front of their donators. Future reference, never donate until you have a product in hand and working. Look, as much as I fight with the dev team, they always have the community’s interests at heart, maybe even more so than me. But chronic just stomped all over what the community wants. Who can actually do something with the info they released? Well, you know, Apple. ”
