Prototype iPhone Now Running iPhone OS 4.0

It seems the owner of the Vietnam prototype iPhone 4G has succeeded in getting iPhone OS 4.0 running on the device, according to a new photo obtained by Engadget.

So far we have yet to see more pics of the operating system; however, if true, the prototype could reveal more information as new betas of OS 4.0 get seeded to developers.

Also, a lot more photos have been taken of the device.

Scott Adams has posted two Dilbert comics about the lost iPhone 4G prototype which he has decided not to run. The reason being is that they wouldn’t run in their normal position until June 18th ‘which seemed too far in the future’. Read more…

Prototype iPhone Design Likely Near Final Production

The general look and feel of the prototype iPhone recently discovered and disassembled will likely be very similar to the final shipping product of the next-generation handset Apple will release this summer.

Citing sources familiar with Apple’s fourth-generation iPhone, Daring Fireball’s John Gruber revealed that the barcode affixed to the prototype device obtained by Gizmodo, which read “N90_DVT-GE4X_0493,” gives insight into how far along Apple is in the design of its next-generation phone. Read more…
