With all of the chaos going on around the lost iPhone case, everyone has more or less assumed that Apple is behind the police department’s actions in searching Gizmodo Editor Jason Chen’s house late last week. Of course, no one believes that the sheriff is working for Apple, but most people seem to be under the impression that Apple wants to get to the bottom of the case, and that the company is pulling strings in law enforcement to try and do that. CNBC’s Jim Goldman has learned some new details about the Apple and Microsoft discussions to use Bing Search for the iPhone.

This information comes from “a knowledgeable source very familiar with search dynamics involving Apple, Microsoft and Yahoo”

● Microsoft’s Bing app for iPhone provides more queries than any other mobile source including the entire Verizon Wireless network.

● This source says “Jobs hates Eric.”

FOXNews.com claims to have received confirmation from a “source inside Apple” that the company will in fact be holding a media event on January 26th in San Francisco. According to the source, the “big” event will focus on the “mobility space”, suggesting an iPhone, iPod touch, or, as many people expect, tablet announcement.

Following a Financial Times report that Apple has scheduled a special media event for January 26th in San Francisco, I’ve spoken to a source inside Apple who confirmed a “big” event for January.

DSLReports claims to have received word from a source noting that AT&T is extremely nervous about the impending launch of MMS for the iPhone scheduled for this Friday. Early testing of the service has apparently already placed a strain on the company’s MMS servers, resulting in a test outage yesterday and a last-minute rush to beef up capacity beyond the measures already taken.

AT&T and its MMS partners are already seeing “record traffic during peak hours of the night” with just the users selected for testing.
