Bill Gates Unimpressed By Apple iPad

February 11, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Microsoft founder Bill Gates, a longtime proponent of tablet-style computing and touchscreen devices, has said he is not impressed by what he’s seen of Apple’s iPad.

The multi-billionaire spoke with Brent Schlender of BNET and admitted that while he became envious of the iPhone, the iPad has not elicited the same reaction from him.

“You know, I’m a big believer in touch and digital reading, but I still think that some mixture of voice, the pen and a real keyboard — in other words, a netbook — will be the mainstream on that,” Gates reportedly said. Read more…

Could HD Video Recording Be Coming for iPhone 4G???

February 06, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Almost lost in the enormous hype surrounding the iPad release and subsequent Apple ‘town hall’ was the pre-announcement of the fourth-generation iPhone, which Steve Jobs declared would be an “A+ upgrade.” Rumors had been going around about a possible CDMA version of the phone which did not emerge of the iPad event, and there’s scanty evidence even to base a rumor on. The iPhone 3.2 SDK, though, at least provides some clues as toApple ’s internal development. Hidden in the details is an increased maximum video width for an unknown device believed to be the 4G iPhone, at a resolution that indicates that the new phone’s camera will be capable of HD recording. Steve Ballmer Signs Student’s Macbook Pro

January 22, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Earlier this week, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer gave the keynote address to the Nashville Technology Council, which was held at Trevecca Nazarene University (TNU) in Nashville, TN. Steve, who is on a multi-city tour to promote Microsoft, joined other prominent technology professionals like Abbie Lundberg, editor-in-chief of CIO Magazine.

After the speeches were done, Steve did a meet-and-greet with TNU Students to answer brief questions, sign autographs and so on. One student asked for Steve’s autograph — on a MacBook Pro.

To his credit, Steve handled the awkward moment well (as another student’s camera rolled), writing “Need a new one? Steve Ballmer” smack-dab over the laptop’s logo. Kudos to Steve for his cool-headed response (we can’t imagine what Steve Jobs would do if asked to sign a Dell) and for that student with the nerve to pull such a stunt.

December 14, 2009 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Apple has taken home top honors in six different categories of Adweek’s Best of the 2000s.

To wind up the 21st century’s first decade, we’ve spent the past month working on a list of the best and brightest in the branding, marketing, media and agency world in 33 categories over the past 10 years.

Marketer of the Decade (Steve Jobs):
When Steve Jobs returned to a struggling Apple in 1997, he brought back his original agency, TBWA\Chiat\Day, with specific instructions: Buy us some time. Jobs knew that the iMac could well save the company he’d founded in 1976 (he’d left a decade later, after a management shakeup)—but the new model was 12 months off. Meanwhile, to let the world know Apple was not going away, Jobs needed a rallying cry—something to remind the core following of Apple’s rebel spirit. The result: “Think different.”… Read more…
