AppleInsider reports that Radio Shack, which is getting ready to become the next retail outlet for the iPhone in the US, will offer a trade-in program to users of smartphones who wish to upgrade or switch. I don’t want to leave a “blemish” on the tech-centric tone of these forums, but a lot of people are talking about the iPhone these days as a potential treatment for all sorts of medical ailments, including acne. Patent suit takes aim at Apple’s iTunes, MobileMe, QuickTime

Apple and 17 other companies were named in a new lawsuit filed this week over two patents related to accessing computer software from remote systems.

BetaNet has targeted Apple, along with Microsoft, IBM, Adobe, Kodak and others, over alleged infringement of two patents. U.S. Patent No. 5,222,134, awarded in 1993, is entitled “Secure System for Activating Personal Computer Software at Remote Locations,” while No. 5,103,476, of 1992, has the name “Secure System for Activating Personal Computer Software at Remote Locations.”

OnLive cloud gaming service demonstrated on Apple’s iPhone

OnLive, the Internet-based interactive streaming service hyped as “the future of video games,” is also capable of running on mobile devices such as Apple’s iPhone, the company has claimed.

At the Wedbush financial conference in New York, OnLive CEO Steve Perlman demonstrated his company’s game streaming service simultaneously on two iPhones. Perlman detailed the event on his company’s official blog.

Apple Looking For AAA game developer for in-house iPhone team

Apple is looking to hire a game and media software engineer for its iPhone and iPod touch team, perhaps signaling that the company intends to expand its first-party software offerings.

The listing posted this week is noteworthy because Apple has only released four applications on its iPhone App Store since it first launched, and only one of them — Texas Hold’em — is a game. The $4.99 virtual card game was released in 2008.

The advertisement seeks a full-time employee to work at the company’s Cupertino, Calif., headquarters. Apple is looking for a “passionate gamer” with 3 to 4 years of video game development experience. The person would help design and implement “interactive multimedia experiences” on the iPhone and iPod touch. Only candidates who have shipped “at least one AAA title” are asked to apply.
