Cydia: Auto3G Significantly Helps Conserve iPhone Battery

August 29, 2010 :: Posted by - SoSly :: Category - News

Auto3G is a great tweak released in cydia which helps you conserve your iphone battery. Auto3G is simple but very useful for those who have those long days and can’t charge their iphones often. The tweak works by automatically disabling the 3g radio and switching to 2g significantly conserving battery life.

For example, lets say your at work and lock your phone for the day. Auto3G does its job and turns 3g off while switching 2g data on. Whenever you sneak a peek like we all do at work and unlock your iphone 3g is turned back on. Lock your phone, 3g is turned off.. You get the picture. You can purchase Auto3G for 5.99 via the cydia.

Auto3g Description:

Requires iPhone with 3G

Auto3G extends your battery life by automatically turning off the 3G radio (leaving on the 2G radio) when you lock your iPhone and automatically turning on the 3G radio when you unlock your iPhone. This way you always have the speed of 3G when you need it without the battery loss.

As explained by Apple, this results in up to 100% greater battery life: “7 hours of talk time on 3G, 14 hours of talk time on 2G.” (apple.com/batteries/iphone.html)

    I tried this out on mine and two other phones. Thistakestoo long to enable 3G again. Not only that, it refused to enable edge on me and another phone. It showed no Internet connection. As cool as it is, it didn't work too well for me :/

    Too bad, I was very happy to try this one out.

    Sorry it didn't work for you man, i have it on my i4 running legit att and it works flawless. Only problem is facetime calls unrestricted it stays on edge since i answer from locksreen and it messes up.

    This will disable the phone's built in ability to switch between 3G and 2G automatically when there is poor 3G signal so you might get stuck with NO SERVICE from time to time..
