FaceTime Mod Improves Facetime Call Video Quality
Now that we have the jailbreak and facetime over 3g what else could we possibly need, quality improvement thats what. A lot of people are unhappy with facetime video calling quality but fret no more facetime mod is here. Facetime mod is said to change the video fps for better quality over wifi and 3g/edge.
The author states that it is only for iphone 4 and the both iphone 4′s that facetime each other must have this installed for it to take effect. He has lowered the minimum fps for users using their data with edge/3g so in turn you will be able to facetime even if you have bad reception but with lower than avg video call quality.
What the mod does and how to install:
- add http://repo.modyouri.com/ or use our repo http://theiphonespotrepo.net/apt
- Backs up and replaces AVCaptureSession.plist with edited plist.
Original FPS:
Min – 15
Max – 15
Modified Plist FPS:
Min – 6
Max – 30

Problem: after installing this, testing, and then uninstalling my iPhone 4 lost the abillity to have 3G or edge AT ALL. wifi only now. I’ve done a hard reboot and toggled everything relevant. Reinstalling does not bring it back. Same problem behavior with my wife’s iphone 4. Any suggestions would be great.

could anyone help me find the directory break down for that AVCaptureSession.plist? I’m poking around with cyberduck and am not finding it. Maybe if I can find the original and rename it as it was I won’t have to restore and downgrade two iphones.

ok so after 1.5 hours poking around for what to do.. 3g comes back on for both iphones without my doing anything .. I guess ATT was doing maintenance. No problems then with this mod..
feel free to delete all this.

I took a look at the plist file and the min fps is set at 10 while the max is at 15…also, there are 4 such files. Does anyone know if this actually works?…the code says “video preview”…

For me i’ve test and could not see much more difference in video calling i haven’t tried it over wifi. But i do have it installed and i haven’t lost signal

There are 5 AVCaptureSession.plist files. Nowhere does it say that there is a minimum of 15fps. In one file, the vga(front cam) minimum is 7fps. I don’t know what this mod does…if anything.
